Where to Watch the 2024 Solar Eclipse in Nashville

The 2024 Solar Eclipse is fast approaching and it promises to be a remarkable celestial event. Residents and visitors in the Nashville area are lucky enough to be in a path of nearly complete totality, with 95 percent of the Sun getting obscured by the Moon. The eclipse will begin at 12:45 p.m., reach maximum at 2:03 p.m., and will end at 3:20 p.m. on Monday, April 8.

Various venues around Middle Tennessee are hosting watch parties and other eclipse-related activities to celebrate this rare event.

Nashville’s Choice Spots for the Eclipse

Adventure Science Center

Located at 800 Fort Negley Boulevard, the Adventure Science Center is hosting a full day of programs, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors will enjoy specialized programming in the i2 Makerspace, Solar Car Races, UV Bead Keychains, and Solar Art. NASA’s live stream from the path of totality will be on display on the Centre’s Cosmic Rays screen all day. This comes included with general admission.

Linebaugh Public Library

The library, situated at 105 W Vine St in Murfreesboro, will host a special solar eclipse storytime from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. Kids and science enthusiasts of all ages are welcome to participate in eclipse-themed activities including games, snack time, and art. For safety reasons, solar eclipse glasses will be provided to all participants.

Fairview Library

Visit the library at 2240 Fairview Blvd., Fairview, to watch the NASA live-streaming program in the meeting room before heading outside to view the eclipse at peak time. The program will run from 1 – 3 p.m.

Middle Tennessee State University

Wiser Patton Science Hall, Old Main Circle, Murfreesboro will play host to another watching spot. The University’s observatory will be open from 12:45 – 2:45 p.m., weather permitting. Although Murfreesboro is expected to have 93% totality compared to 100% totality, the location still promises to offer an unforgettable experience. Eclipse glasses will be provided and the observatory telescope is equipped with protective filters.

Tanger Outlets Nashville

Running from noon to 4 p.m at 4060 Cane Ridge Parkway, events include distribution of a complimentary pair of solar eclipse glasses, space-themed snacks, face painting, space-themed crafts, themed music, and prizes on a first-come-first-served basis.

General Jackson Showboat

The General Jackson Showboat at 2812 Opryland Drive is hosting a ‘Tennessee Legends + Solar Eclipse Cruise’ from 11:15 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. In addition to regular activities, guests will also get to experience the solar eclipse while cruising down the Cumberland River.

Stewart Williams Furniture in Springfield

The furniture store located at 801 Memorial Boulevard in Springfield is hosting a solar eclipse viewing party from noon till 2:30 p.m. This event will also feature food trucks and educational stations for visitors of all ages.

Cedars of Lebanon State Park

The state park at 328 Cedar Forest Rd, Lebanon is offering fun eclipse-themed activities and educational sessions on the science behind the Eclipse between 1 and 2:30 p.m. Solar glasses will be provided.

Bavarian Bierhaus

At 121 Opry Mills Dr, Nashville, this venue invites everyone to its Bier Garten to watch the partial solar eclipse from 12:44 – 3:20 p.m. Limited Eclipse Glasses will be available for viewers.
