Parmalee Releases Music Video for New Single “Gonna Love You”; Reflects on Overcoming Traumatic Incident

Nashville Celebrates Parmalee’s New Single Release “Gonna Love You”

Thursday, November 30, 2023, marked another milestone in the country music industry as Nashville’s own Parmalee officially dropped the music video for their new single, “Gonna Love You” on this sunny day in Music City. The spectacular piece is not just a music video, but a powerful and autobiographical narrative shedding light on a traumatic incident the band endured.

The hauntingly beautiful video recreates the night of an attempted robbery that almost claimed the life of the band’s drummer. The robbery took place following one of their shows in South Carolina. The Thomas brothers, Matt and Scott, were within their RV when two robbers invaded the vehicle, demanding cash. A gunfight broke out, resulting in Scott receiving three gunshot wounds. He was promptly airlifted to a hospital, where his chances of survival were a slim 5%. He spent 40 days in recovery, 10 of those in a coma.

“We felt like this was the right song and the right time to tell this story,” Scott Thomas shared. “It was emotional and surreal for all of us to relive that experience, but we knew it was time.”

Despite the life-threatening events, the band demonstrated the power of resilience and unity as they got back on stage barely four months after the incident. What added joy to their comeback was the long-awaited record deal they finally secured after years of hard work and determination.

“We couldn’t believe how many people came together to help us. We would’ve never made it through had it not been for our fans, families, friends, and all the bands and musicians who came together to help us out! We didn’t even ask, they just did it!” the band expressed with sincere gratitude.

Parmalee not only made a forceful comeback but also left their mark with a series of chart-busting singles. Their most recent #1 single, “Girl In Mine,” was followed by the equally successful “Take My Name,” making them one of the most successful country music bands in recent years.

The band will close the year with a series of December shows before setting their sights on their 2024 “In The Air” Tour with Kane Brown. It seems the band’s strength and spirit will continue to flourish, lighting up the Nashville music scene.
