Nashville’s Wild Chase: Two Arrested After Dramatic Pursuit
Nashville, Tenn. — This past Thursday night saw a breathtaking police chase unfold in the streets of Nashville, leaving residents stunned and talking. Two young men, Mario Woodard and Montrell Hinton, both 22 years old, are now facing several charges following a wild multi-vehicle pursuit that involved driving on sidewalks and even throwing guns out of a moving vehicle.
The Start of Chaos
The drama began when police officers spotted Woodard in a black Honda sedan while they were waiting at a red light at Woodland Street and South 5th Street. Witnesses reported that as the traffic light turned red, Woodard threw what appeared to be “a large amount of trash” out of the window. Officers decided to run a check on the vehicle’s Tennessee tag and discovered that the car had an expired registration. They promptly initiated a traffic stop.
However, instead of stopping, Woodard accelerated, fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. The officers engaged in a pursuit, and chaos ensued as Woodard made the risky decision to drive on sidewalks to escape the law enforcement.
Aerial Assistance
As the chase escalated, a helicopter crew from the Metro Nashville Police Department took to the skies to monitor the situation from above. The pursuit eventually made its way to Old Hickory Boulevard, where Woodard made a stop at a gas station. Here, both suspects abandoned the black Honda sedan, loaded several items into a blue Chevrolet Malibu, and took off again, with Woodard behind the wheel and Hinton seated in the back.
The Chase Ends
With the pursuit intensifying, police successfully deployed spike strips on Mcferrin Avenue, effectively bringing the chase to an end. Just moments before they bolted from the Malibu, witnesses reported seeing the suspects throw two handguns out of the vehicle.
On Foot But Not Free
Following a brief foot chase, officers managed to apprehend both suspects. A third person who was in the car at the time was also taken into custody but was later released without charges. It didn’t take long for the police to uncover significant evidence of illicit activities around the suspects.
Evidence Unearthed
As police pursued Hinton, they discovered four bags of marijuana, adding up to 18.3 grams, within his flight path, alongside an additional 2.5 grams on him at the time of the arrest. Meanwhile, Woodard’s search revealed he had 10 grams of M30 pills in his possession, which tested positive for fentanyl. Left inside the blue Malibu were a whopping 540 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and a box of empty plastic bags — clear indicators of drug distribution activities.
The Charges Ahead
As a result of their reckless escapade, both Woodard and Hinton are facing a slew of charges. Woodard’s list includes possession of marijuana, possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance, driving without a license, and felony evading arrest, among others. Hinton, on the other hand, faces charges for probation violation, possession of marijuana, evading arrest, and possession of a firearm.
Still Behind Bars
As of today, both suspects remain behind bars in Nashville, with their criminal activities taken very seriously by local authorities.
