Nashville Gears Up for Early Voting as Election Day Approaches

As the city of Nashville and the surrounding area of Davidson County prepare for the upcoming election on November 5, excitement is in the air, especially with early voting set to kick off soon! Yes, you heard that right! From Wednesday, October 16 through Thursday, October 31, residents will have the opportunity to cast their ballots before the big day. So, if you’re looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of Election Day, early voting is a fantastic option!

Convenience is Key

The Metro Nashville Government has made it super easy for registered voters in Davidson County to participate early. They have opened multiple locations across the county, so whether you’re close to home or at work, there’s a spot nearby where you can vote. Isn’t that convenient?

The best part? There are no assigned voting locations during the early voting period, meaning you can choose whatever site works best for you. This early voting period is open during the day, with some locations offering evening hours and even being open on Saturdays! If your Saturday is free, why not pop in and make your voice heard?

Stay Informed

As we approach early voting, the Davidson County Election Commission is hard at work, processing new registrations to ensure everything runs smoothly. They are optimistic about wrapping up this data processing by the end of the day on October 14. So, if you’ve recently registered to vote, you’ll want to check your registration status to confirm everything is in order. This would be a great time to visit the Tennessee Secretary of State’s website, where you can easily look up your status, along with details about your designated voting location.

Not to worry if you’ve already mailed in your registration or are waiting on your card; you don’t need it to vote! What’s even more interesting is that the processing of absentee ballot requests isn’t affected by this data entry process. The election commission has already sent out a whopping 8,064 absentee ballots, and approximately 3,604 have been returned.

Voting Options Available

As a Tennessean, you have two main options to vote ahead of Election Day: early voting and by-mail/absentee voting. Early voting allows folks the convenience of voting in-person at their choice of locations for any reason, while voting by mail requires a specific statutory reason. It’s great that there are choices to fit everyone’s needs!

If you decide to vote early, make sure you go in person to either your local county election commission office or one of the satellite voting locations that the county has set up. Remember that although early voting is available on Saturdays, the polls are closed on holidays, so plan accordingly!

Get Ready to Vote!

In the end, it all comes down to making your voice heard. With early voting just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get ready. Whether you’re planning to vote early or on Election Day itself, just make sure you know the specifics like where to go and what you need!

As we count down the days to the election, staying informed is key. Check with your local county election commission office for more details about early voting times and locations. For any other voting-related information, like registration requirements or sample ballots, there are plenty of resources available to help guide you through the process.

So, Nashville, mark those calendars, gather your friends, and let’s make sure our voices are heard this election season!
