Antonio Carroll: Nashville’s Inspiring Attorney and Community Advocate

Meet Antonio Carroll: A Beacon of Light in Nashville

Nashville, the vibrant city known for its music and culture, is home to some truly inspiring individuals. One such person is Antonio Carroll, a remarkable 36-year-old attorney working at the Nashville Electric Service. Not only has Antonio been recognized as a 2024 40 Under 40 honoree, but he also has an incredibly unique perspective on his role within the community.

More Than Just Streetlights

When people hear the title of an attorney at a utility company, they might imagine someone buried in legal documents or managing contracts. But for Antonio, his job goes beyond just the legal responsibilities. “I think sometimes people think my job duties are actually putting the streetlights on across the county,” he explains, with a friendly chuckle. “But I really just connect people with the right resources. This includes lights, information, bill assistance, legal counsel, and more. If I can help, then that is what I actually do.”

His genuine enthusiasm for helping others shines through in every conversation. Unlike many lawyers who might be confined to the office, Antonio thrives in the community, assisting people in navigating the complexities of utility services and legal needs.

A Passion for Stories and Knowledge

When he’s not working, Antonio dives into books that enlighten and educate him. The best read he’s had in the past year was “American Nations” by Colin Woodard. The book delves into the history of various immigrant groups and their lasting impact on the cultural and social fabric of America. “It’s fascinating to see how these historical paths influence social behavior and attitudes today,” he shares.

Future Aspirations

With his sights set on becoming a general counsel or chief legal officer, Antonio is committed to personal and professional growth. His experience leading different segments of the legal team and collaborating with various business units has broadened his understanding of the legal landscape. “I believe continuing to seek out these types of experiences along with pursuing mentorship from others in these positions will help me obtain this career goal,” he says. It’s clear that he sees every challenge as a stepping stone).

Finding Balance in Nashville

Living in Nashville provides Antonio with a perfect mix of urban excitement and country tranquility. “I love the vibrancy of working near downtown and enjoying the amenities, entertainment, food, and culture Nashville offers,” he shares. At the same time, he appreciates having a peaceful retreat back home, complete with an orchard, garden, and livestock—proof that you can have the best of both worlds in this city.

The Journey Matters

Reflecting on his journey, Antonio wishes he had learned to appreciate the journey just as much as the destination. “I have been rushing from milestone to milestone,” he acknowledges. “Achievements were essential for me, but now I’m savoring every moment that carries me to the next milestone.” This newfound appreciation for the process has made his experiences even more rewarding.

A Few Fun Facts

Antonio keeps his life interesting with a few unique tidbits. For starters, he learned how to swim as a Father’s Day gift from his children. He’s also a fan of Western movies and country music, making him a true Tennessean at heart. However, Antonio has a slight phobia—he’s terrified of snakes! And on the topic of books, he wishes he had started listening to audiobooks sooner, discovering that platforms like the Libby app can expand his choices without losing touch with the physical pages.

Closing Thoughts

As Antonio Carroll continues to make his mark in Nashville, one thing is clear: his journey is one of service, growth, and inspiration. Whether he’s in the office or out in the community, he’s lighting the way for those around him, proving that each connection he facilitates is just as important as the streetlights that illuminate the city streets.
