Suspected Armed Robber Arrested after High-Speed Police Chase in Nashville

Armed Robbery Followed by Reckless Police Chase in Nashville

A high-stakes chase involving Metro Nashville police culminated in the arrest of a man suspected of a prior armed robbery at a local Dollar General, according to fresh reports out of Nashville, Tennessee.

The Armed Robbery Incident

The events started unwinding on the evening of July 6, when officers received a call about a robbery at a Dollar General store on Dickerson Pike. The victim, who had just completed his shopping, recounted how he was prevented from entering his car by a woman. Soon after, a man joined her and reportedly hit the victim with a pistol.

While keeping him under threat with the firearm, the pair removed his wallet and phone and hurriedly left the scene in a white Chevrolet Impala, the victim said.

A Chance Sighting Leads to Pursuit

Two days following the robbery, on July 8, officers patrolling the Nolensville Pike and Welshwood Drive locale spotted an Impala with fake license plates, which matched the description of the vehicle used in recent robberies.

The police, with assistance from a helicopter, began tailing the vehicle. The Impala was observed to be swerving through traffic, bypassing cars along the shoulders, and flagrantly disobeying traffic lights. It was later involved in a hit-and-run incident at 4th Avenue South and Mulberry Street, reports say.

High Stakes Chase and Arrest

Despite the attempts of Metro Nashville police to arrest them on the spot, the occupants of the Impala opted to escape, resulting in a high-speed pursuit. Precariously abandoning their vehicle on the run, they were then captured after a short foot chase.

37-year-old Joey Jordan, one of the arrested suspects, faces multiple charges, including leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated robbery, vehicle theft, resisting/evading arrest, and reckless driving, based on the initial police report.

Aftermath

The recklessness of the pursuit and the seriousness of charges levied against Jordan highlight the determination of the Metro Nashville police officers in ensuring public safety and demonstrating that no crime is too insignificant to be overlooked. News of the arrest has generated relief among Nashville residents, who are grateful for the commendable work of the police.
