Princeton, KY- An unsettling crash took place yesterday afternoon on Dawson Road, which left a nineteen-year-old Caldwell County woman critically injured. She was air-transported to a hospital in Nashville for immediate treatment. The incident involved the young woman’s car veering off the road and colliding with a utility pole and tree.
The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office, led by Sheriff Don Weedman, performed a preliminary investigation. The event unfolded just before 3:30 pm in the vicinity of the 17000 block of Dawson Road. The scene involved a single-vehicle collision and a related roadside fire. The victim, identified as Gracie Harper, was reportedly driving eastbound, allegedly at an unsafe speed when she lost control of her vehicle, causing the unfortunate accident.
Sheriff Weedman confirmed that Harper was extracted from the vehicle by the heroic efforts of the Princeton Fire and Rescue team. On-site medics from the Caldwell County Ambulance Service promptly attended to her injuries. The Dawson Springs Police Department assisted in coordinating a landing area for Air Evac. Harper was then swiftly airlifted to Skyline Medical Center, Nashville for further treatment. Harper was listed in critical, but stable condition as of midnight.
The vehicle’s violent collision led to a severed utility pole owned by KU, resulting in arcing power lines and an ensuing fire by the roadside of US 62. The swift response of the Princeton Fire Department played a key role in quickly extinguishing the blaze.
