The annual CMA Fest has started off with a flurry of activities, attracting numerous tourists to the lively downtown of Nashville, Tennessee. One event that managed to whip up quite the excitement was the Craig Campbell Celebrity Cornhole Challenge. Fans and celebrities came together, placing bids to play rounds of the popular game. Well-known personalities like Jerrod Niemann, Colbie Caillat, and Uncle Kracker added to the attraction of the event, held at 6th and Peabody.
The cause driving this fun event is personal and powerful. Craig Campbell, the founder of the event and known for several hit songs including ‘Family Man’ and ‘Keep Them Kisses Comin”, is committed to raising awareness and funding for the research and treatment of colorectal cancer.
“My dad was 36-years-old when he died with colorectal cancer,” Campbell shared. “The older I got, I dug into what took him from me and I found out that colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers — so that’s been my mission.”
In honor of his late father, Craig Campbell initiated the Kenny Campbell Foundation. The organization is dedicated to raising funds for research institutions and doctors working towards a cure for colorectal cancer. This year marks the tenth anniversary of this noble cause.
Every year, the cornhole tournament serves as a platform for celebrities to contribute to this cause. And Craig Campbell’s friends in the music industry never fail to answer his call.
“Every year when we get ready for the cornhole tournament I reach out to my buddies in the celebrity world – whatever you want to call us – and I say, ‘hey do you want to participate?’ and it’s always yes. That’s what I love about the business that I’m in. I’m surrounded by great people,” Campbell shared.
Living up to CMA Week’s reputation of festivities and music, the day concluded with an exciting Craig Campbell concert. With camaraderie, charity, and celebration, the annual challenge once again left an imprint of positivity and hope in the heart of Nashville.
Reflecting on the legacy of the annual Celebrity Cornhole Challenge, it’s clear that this event has created lasting memories and significant charitable contributions in its ten-year history. As Craig Campbell and his friends play cornhole, laugh, and perform, they are doing so much more than just entertaining — they are making a difference.
