In a show of love and appreciation for our nation’s heroes, Nashville recently hosted a vibrant and uplifting event to honor Veterans on Veterans Day. Musicians On Call and Wrangler teamed up for the annual Concert For Veterans Presented by Wrangler, bringing joy and the healing power of music to hospitalized Veterans across the United States. This year, the initiative was especially meaningful, as it engaged award-winning artists who visited Veterans at their bedsides, spreading cheer and camaraderie.
One of the standout moments came from Black River recording artist Scotty Hasting, who personally visited Veterans and caregivers at the Nashville VA Medical Center. As a proud Army Veteran and Purple Heart recipient, Scotty formed genuine connections with fellow Veterans, bonding over shared military experiences and, of course, their love of music. His heartfelt performances resonated deeply with the patients, turning musical moments into treasured memories.
To further enhance the festivities, actor and singer/songwriter Charles Esten joined in as a volunteer from Musicians On Call. He not only charmed audiences with classic country songs but also engaged the nursing staff in a fun Wrangler trivia contest. The laughter and smiles were contagious as patients expressed the profound impact of hearing Esten’s voice echo through the VA hallways during a challenging time. His warmth and energy lit up the room, reminding everyone present of the simple joy music can bring.
In addition to the bedside visits, Scotty Hasting hosted a special virtual concert that aired on Veterans Day and continued throughout the month. This concert featured an incredible lineup of talented artists, including The Bellamy Brothers, Chapel Hart, Sara Evans, and Craig Morgan, who shared heartfelt performances and messages of gratitude for the service of these brave individuals. The concert, carefully curated with contributions from the Grand Ole Opry, was exclusively shared with VA hospitals, ensuring that more Veterans could enjoy the uplifting experience.
“At Musicians On Call, we truly prioritize performing for Veterans in all the communities we serve,” said Pete Griffin, President & CEO of Musicians On Call. “Both the patients and caregivers at these facilities have sacrificed more than we can imagine. Music resonates deeply, and we are honored to thank our heroes on Veterans Day.” With over 100,000 Veterans served through their programs, MOC has shown that even small gestures can make a world of difference.
John Meagher, vice president of global brand marketing at Wrangler, echoed this sentiment, saying, “Music has a unique way of connecting us, lifting us up, and providing comfort—especially for those who have sacrificed so much for our country.” It’s evident that this partnership is more than just a collaboration; it’s about creating special moments of joy and gratitude for our Veterans.
In a further demonstration of care, Veterans at the Murfreesboro VA Community Living Center enjoyed a delightful live writers’ round featuring MOC Volunteers Drew Dixon, Jenny Teator, and Troubadour Blue. These talented artists not only performed but took time to visit Veterans in this long-term care facility. The impact of music is particularly profound for patients living with Dementia, as soothing melodies can trigger memories and bring smiles even when words are hard to find.
Musicians On Call has been dedicated to using music as a part of the healing process for 25 years. Their incredible work has reached over one million individuals in healthcare settings nationwide. With the ongoing support from partners such as the Bob Woodruff Foundation and Grand Ole Opry, programs like this continue to flourish, ensuring that every Veteran feels cherished.
