Nashville, Tennessee: A Crime Spree Unfolds
Nashville has been shocked by the recent activities of a man with a troubled past. Scotti Dale Carter, a 37-year-old with a criminal history stretching back two decades, was apprehended after what can only be described as a bold and brazen crime spree that crossed two Middle Tennessee counties. His latest escapades are not just reckless but downright audacious!
The Start of Trouble
On November 9, Carter allegedly broke into a landscaping company’s lot in South Nashville. Employees there told authorities that they spotted him on surveillance footage, dressed in an orange worker vest—what a sneaky disguise! This man isn’t just after small change; he’s aiming high. He made off with a brand new heavy-duty Chevrolet work truck valued at an eye-watering $95,000 and even managed to tow away a company trailer, driving right through an electric fence. Talk about a getaway!
Escalating Criminal Behavior
Fast forward to November 26, and things took an even more alarming turn. Carter sneaked onto a South Nashville car lot, and in a series of brazen acts, he started breaking into cars left and right. This wasn’t just any vehicles; he targeted two Metro Nashville Police Department cruisers parked there for servicing. In an unbelievable twist, he even walked away with a tactical vest from one of the police cars!
According to an affidavit, he didn’t stop there. Using a metal pole, he broke into a Ford F-150 work truck, damaging the glass and tearing apart the interior in search of keys. It’s assumed that he had his eye on the truck, which was valued at around $25,000. But here’s where things get even crazier: after putting on the stolen tactical vest, Carter impersonated an officer! He ordered an employee to hand over the keys to another shiny Ford, this time a $65,000 F-250, and crashed through the car lot’s fence, taking down a shocking ninety feet of chain-link electric fence in the process.
The Chase is On!
As soon as word got out about the stolen truck, authorities sprang into action. A license plate reader in Kingston Springs spotted the vehicle. However, when they attempted to pull him over, Carter took off on the highway, reaching speeds well over 100 mph. Safety first, folks; the police eventually had to give up the chase as it was turning dangerous.
But that wasn’t the end of the story! Thanks to a watchful Metro police helicopter, officers were able to locate the stolen truck near Nolensville Pike and Thompson Lane. Following him to Miller Street in South Nashville, they spotted him abandoning the vehicle. A brief foot chase ensued, but officers soon caught up with Carter. And what did they find on him? 2.5 grams of meth in his pocket, adding to his troubles.
What’s Next for Carter?
As of now, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office reports that Carter is being held on a hefty $144,500 bond facing an alarming list of charges, including criminal impersonation of a law enforcement officer, vandalism, burglary of a motor vehicle, vehicle theft, and evading arrest. The community can’t help but wonder how this will affect his parole status, as he was already serving a 10-year sentence for multiple thefts.
This shopping season, let’s hope Nashville can focus on joy and celebration instead of crime sprees. Stay safe out there, everyone, and keep an eye on your vehicles!
