Nashville's landscape glowing during the sunset as daylight increases.
As Nashville approaches spring, residents can look forward to an increase in daylight and warmer temperatures. Starting February 8, the city will gain over two extra minutes of daylight each day, accumulating nearly one hour by the end of the month. The sunrise will shift to 6:01 a.m. on February 28, and the sunset will extend to 5:40 p.m. Additionally, although cooler-than-normal temperatures are predicted for the latter half of February, the anticipation of spring warmth is palpable. Embrace the change, Nashville!
Nashville is gearing up for some exciting changes as we move further into February. With warmer temperatures becoming more noticeable this winter, the thoughts of spring are definitely starting to sprinkle a bit of warmth into our daily lives. Wouldn’t it be great to soak up a little more sunshine? Well, get ready, Nashville, because there’s plenty of it on the way!
The official first day of spring falls on March 20, but you can start feeling those spring vibes much earlier! Beginning on February 8, Nashville will be gaining over two extra minutes of daylight each day. Can you imagine? That sweet little taste of sunshine is going to pile up quick!
Throughout the month of February, our beloved city will accumulate nearly one hour of extra daylight. This is indeed something to cheer about! To give you a clearer picture, the sunrise will change from 6:33 a.m. on February 1 to a bright and early 6:01 a.m. on February 28. And let’s talk about sunsets, too. Nashville will see the sunset move from 5:12 p.m. on February 1 to a later 5:40 p.m. on February 28. That’s a gain of approximately 57 minutes of daylight during the month. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy those longer evenings?
It’s interesting to note that regions closer to the North Pole experience a different scenario altogether. In fact, places near Canada can add over 80 minutes of daylight in February! That makes Nashville’s increase seem modest, but it’s still a significant change for us. February has the third-largest increase in daylight, right behind the glorious months of March and April.
If you think February’s increases are impressive, wait until March arrives! Across all of Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky, more than an hour of daylight will be added. Just in time for longer days filled with outdoor fun and excitement!
With all this talk about daylight, let’s not forget about the temperatures! On average, Nashville’s temperatures are anticipated to rise from 40°F on February 1 up to 47°F by February 28. The average high temperature is also expected to increase from 51°F to 58°F during this period. Wow, that sure sounds a lot better than those chilly winter days!
However, it’s not all sunshine and warm breezes just yet. The Climate Prediction Center has forecast cooler-than-normal temperatures for the second half of February. So while we get to enjoy more daylight and mild temperatures, make sure to keep an eye on that weather report just in case you need to bundle up a bit more!
Nashville, embrace the light and warmth heading our way! With each passing day, let’s look forward to the longer days, warmer temperatures, and the joyful spirit that spring brings. As we countdown to spring, let’s get ready to enjoy all the beauty and excitement in our beloved city. Cheers to more sunshine, Nashville!
