Initially establishe to improve safety for pedestrians who traverse this busy thoroughfare, the deadline for completion has now been extended to July 31, 2027. This extension comes amid ongoing worries about the safety hazards present on this notorious stretch of road.
The urgency behind this extension cannot be overstated. If the project isn’t completed by the new deadline, all agreements will expire, meaning the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will not cover costs for any work carried out afterward. In other words, time is of the essence, and everyone is holding their breath for a positive outcome.
The heart of the project aims to construct sidewalks that will span from Douglas Avenue to Trinity Lane, making it much safer for locals to access shops and services along Dickerson Pike. The new residents of this huge development could very well drive demand for more positive changes along Dickerson Pike.
The property at 237 Lemuel Road is currently owned by Dyno Nobel Inc., a company that has invested heavily in this land over the years. They made their acquisitions in two transactions costing around $1,729,000 in total during 1985 and 2020. As for the construction, Nashville-based Catalyst Design Group will serve as the civil engineer for the project, with plans to seek a specific plan rezoning from the Metro Planning Commission on January 9 of the upcoming year.
In a nutshell, while safety improvements on Dickerson Pike are urgently needed, the forthcoming residential project has the potential to enhance community life around the area.
