October is here and it’s bringing a cornucopia of fun and free activities for families across Middle Tennessee! Everyone knows that the best way to enjoy this beautiful fall season is with some great family outings, and there’s no shortage of fantastic events to choose from. Grab your calendar and get ready to mark all the exciting things to do in your area!

Archaeology Adventure

Have you ever dreamed of being an archaeologist? The Warner Park Nature Center in Nashville (7311 Highway 100) is hosting a workshop that’s perfect for kids ages 6 and up! Discover what real-life archaeologists do and get a chance to put your investigative skills to the test. The session runs from 10 – 11:30 a.m., but don’t forget to register in advance!

Pumpkin Carving Fun

If your kids are between the ages of 10 and 13, they’re invited to a **pumpkin carving session** at the Franklin Library (1314 Columbia Ave). This delightful event will take place from 2 – 3:30 p.m. Each child will receive a pumpkin to carve, paint, or decorate. All supplies are provided, so there’s no need to bring anything. Make sure to register so your little ones can get creative!

Kidsville at the Parthenon

Join Kidsville at the Parthenon on select Saturdays throughout the month. Families with children aged 12 and under can get in for free! Head on over to the Parthenon (2500 West End Ave, Nashville) starting at 10:30 a.m., where a Kidsville team member will be taking registrations. The fun begins at 11 a.m. with weekly storytelling and special guest programming. Mark your calendars for October 12 and 26 for some musical and mythical fun!

Halloween Festivities Galore

Get your costumes ready because there’s plenty of Halloween spirit to soak up at the Mall at Green Hills (2126 Abbott Martin Road) on October 14. From 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., enjoy games, crafts, snacks, and music! Be sure to keep your costume on for some extra fun!

The Streets of Indian Lake Shopping Center is also joining the Halloween excitement on the same day! Kids up to age 9 can enjoy free pumpkins, pumpkin painting, live music, and so much more from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. There’ll be face painting, dance contests with prizes, and local artisan vendors, so it’s sure to be a blast!

Local Festivals Celebrate Autumn

Fall vibes continue with a day of fun at Shade Tree Farm and Orchard (2087 Kinneys Road, Adams) where you can enjoy local vendors, delicious food trucks, and mouth-watering fresh cider donuts from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Don’t miss out on that fall flavor!

Outdoor Excitement at Bells Bend Park

The fun doesn’t stop there! Head to Bells Bend Park (4187 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville) for a day filled with farm animals, hay rides, workshops, music, and more from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. It’s a great way to connect with nature and have a blast with the family!

Haunted Museum Storytelling Festival

For a spooky story time, swing by the Tennessee State Museum (1000 Rosa L Parks Blvd, Nashville) on October 19 for the annual **Haunted Museum Storytelling Festival**. Be there from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. for ghost stories shared by some of Tennessee’s finest tellers, puppet shows, and a free book for kids. It’s sure to give everyone nighttime goosebumps!
