On a chilly Wednesday night in Nashville, the air was electric as fans gathered at the Country Music Hall of Fame CMA Theater to witness a special occasion – Gabby Barrett’s headline debut during her “Giving For Good Show.” This event wasn’t just about the music; it was a heartfelt initiative aimed at bringing joy and support to those in need. All the proceeds from the evening went to MurphsLife, a remarkable foundation dedicated to creating sustainable solutions that help individuals and communities in Central America break free from the cycle of poverty.
The night kicked off on a high note with the incredibly talented Rachel Purcell warming up the audience with her strong and stunning vocals. As she played the keyboard, her captivating sounds surely set the stage for what was to come. After a brief intermission, anticipation filled the room as Gabby Barrett took the stage, grasping her glittering microphone and radiating excitement.
“It was a tug on my heart to do something, especially around the holiday time, for others,” Barrett shared alongside her husband and lead guitarist, Cade Foehner. “So we were like, ‘Let’s create a charity show.’” Her words echoed the sentiment that community support, especially during the holidays, is a key ingredient to spreading love and cheer.
As the evening unfolded, Barrett kicked things off with her energetic song, “Glory Days,” and the crowd couldn’t help but join in the fun, showing their enthusiasm as they waved to the beat. She showcased her skillful tambourine shaking and immediately got the energy of the room pumping. Following that lively start, she sang “Chapter” from her sophomore album, Chapter & Verse, and delighted everyone with a cover of Keith Urban’s “Love Somebody.” Of course, her triple-Platinum single “Pick Me Up” made a bright appearance on the setlist as well.
One of the most magical moments of the night came when a sunset bonfire scene was projected behind Barrett and Foehner. The couple performed an acoustic round, serenading the audience with timeless classics like Johnny Cash and June Carter’s “Jackson” and Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide.” Foehner treated the audience to Glen Campbell’s “Gentle On My Mind,” adding personal flair by sharing how the song reminds him of Barrett.
Gabby also performed her quadruple-Platinum three-week No. 1 hit, “The Good Ones,” and followed up with one of her personal favorites from Chapter & Verse, “Growin’ Up Raising You.” But the excitement didn’t stop there! She brought down the house with killer renditions of Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On A Prayer” and Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’,” inviting the audience to take turns singing along. The energy was infectious as everyone joined together in perfect harmony.
Foehner and another guitarist took the spotlight with an exhilarating guitar solo, causing heads to bang throughout the venue. As the evening progressed, Barrett changed into a fiery black and red ensemble that perfectly matched the intensity of her final number.
With her impressive track record and an eight-time Platinum chart-topper “I Hope,” Barrett closed out the night with a bang, leaving everyone in the audience buzzing with excitement and joy. The “Giving For Good Show” turned out to be a memorable evening, not only filled with stellar performances but also brimming with warmth and community spirit.
As Nashville witnessed Gabby Barrett’s debut, it became clear that music and kindness can create a powerful impact, bringing people together for a wonderful cause.
