Nashville, Tennessee— A man, suspected of fatally shooting his wife, surrendered to police Saturday according to the Lebanon Police Department (LPD). Previously considered “armed and dangerous” by the authorities, the man was identified as 42-year-old Steve Yarbrough.
The sequence of events unfolded in the early hours of Saturday morning around 12:30 AM when officers responded to a reported incident at 502 Fairview Avenue, The Ridgeview Apartments. Upon arrival, authorities found a woman suffering from several gunshot injuries. Despite emergency personnel rapidly transporting her to a nearby medical facility, her wounds proved too critical and she succumbed to her injuries.
Subsequent to these unfortunate events, Steve Yarbrough voluntarily turned himself in at the LPD and surrendered peacefully. The reasons behind the fatal shooting are yet to be released, while the investigation is still under process. The identification of the deceased woman has been withheld by the police, as they attempt to notify the family and loved ones.
Law enforcement representatives expressed their gratitude towards their dedicated officers and detectives who worked diligently on this case. A spokesperson said, “We are grateful for our detectives and officers, who worked steadfastly to bring justice to the victim. We will continue to keep the victim’s family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.”
The news of Yarbrough’s surrender has brought some relief to the tense local community, previously left in fear of an armed individual at large following the tragic incident. With the suspect now in custody, it is hoped that some semblance of peace and security can be re-established in the neighborhood.
The investigation into the circumstances around this unfortunate incident remains ongoing, with authorities encouraging anyone with information that could aid the investigation to come forward. It’s hoped that answers can provide a measure of closure for a community shocked by this tragic loss, as they rally to remember the victim and support each other in the aftermath of such a horrifying event.
