22-Year-Old Nashville Local Charged with Attempted Robbery Following Death Threats in Broadway Incident

Suspect Threatens to Kill Man During Broadway Robbery Attempt

Incident Report

Nashville, TN – A Nashville local, 22-year-old Javonterious Starns, stands charged with attempted robbery following an incident in which he allegedly threatened to kill a man at a Lower Broadway ATM.

The Nashville Metropolitan Police Department responded to a distress call on Fourth Avenue and Broadway, detailing an attempted robbery. Upon arrival at the scene, the victim narrated the terrifying ordeal.

The Threat

The victim reported that Mr. Starns, in the company of a group of unknown individuals, approached him at the ATM. He was told to extract $100 from the machine, with the assurance that they would give him $200 in return, albeit for unclarified reasons.

After expressing his inability to withdraw cash from the particular ATM, suggesting he’d need to visit another, the situation abruptly took a severe turn. Starns issued him with a stark warning, promising substantial harm if he did not comply. Mr. Starns went as far as to threaten to kill the man if he did not follow the instructions.

The Escape and Arrest

Units on the scene reported that following the threats from Starns, the victim managed to escape from the situation unscathed and promptly alert the authorities. Upon being spotted by the police, Starns attempted to evade capture by running away.

However, the determined efforts of the police eventually resulted in Starns’ surrender, after a short chase. He is currently being held on a bond of more than $100,000. Official charges have been laid, and Starns is awaiting his day in court to face the attempted robbery charge.

The Aftermath

Indeed, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable and sinister nature of street crime. It underscores the vital importance of remaining vigilant at all times, particularly during vulnerable moments such as withdrawing cash from ATMs.

As of now, the victim’s identity remains undisclosed for safety reasons, and he is reported to be recovering from the traumatic incident. As for Mr. Starns, he faces a potential long-term imprisonment if found guilty of attempted robbery. This case could also serve as an example for potential criminals that the local police will not tolerate such reckless behavior, aiming towards a safer community for all.
