Nashville’s Sought-after Man and Convicted Sumner County Felon Arrested amid Multiple Charges and Outstanding Warrants

Man Wanted out of Nashville, Convicted Felon from Sumner County Arrested

NASHVILLE- A 24-year-old man, highly sought after by the Metro Police, and a separate felon from Sumner County, were arrested late Wednesday evening in a joint effort by local law enforcement agencies. Aury Newsom, one of the men arrested, has been on the radar of police for multiple crimes, the most notable of which being his involvement in several domestic violence incidents and a string of burglaries. Newsom, at the time of his arrest, was found to have 13 outstanding warrants against him.

Outstanding Warrants and Charges

Newsom was wanted primarily for eight counts of burglary. The felon, identified on Buchanan Street, was carrying two firearms – one of which had been reported stolen from LaVergne in 2021 – at the time of his arrest. Both firearms were immediately seized by the police.

Other charges against Newsom stem from multiple incidents of domestic violence dating back to 2022. One such incident involved him allegedly shooting his then-girlfriend while she was holding their 3-month-old baby. The woman was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result of this incident. A month prior to his arrest, Newsom had reportedly battered the same woman with a firearm, landing her in the hospital once more.

In addition to these charges, Newsom will also face two counts of being a felon in possession of a handgun.

String of Burglaries

Newsom had also been indicted by a grand jury on eight burglary charges. Most of these charges relate to numerous incidents over the past two years where business safes were stolen through forced entry. These serious charges all factor into why Newsom was considered one of the Metro Nashville Police Department’s most wanted individuals.

Current Status

Upon his arrest, Newsom was immediately taken into custody. As a result of his extensive list of charges, his bond has been set at a staggering $463,500, reflecting the severity of his alleged offenses.

The arrest of this wanted individual is a significant win for local law enforcement, bringing a man believed to be responsible for multiple serious crimes to justice. It also signifies a testament to the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to maintain the safety and security of the city.
