Nashville, TN – Animal Clinic Staff Shocked as Tires Slashed in Broad Daylight

In a surprising act of vandalism, employees of the McCormick Animal Clinic in Nashville were left stunned after discovering that several cars had their tires slashed while parked on their property. This incident occurred on the afternoon of September 5, 2024, causing concern for staff and clients alike.

A Disturbing Discovery

The situation unfolded when employees were alerted by a client who tried to exit the parking lot but found themselves with a flat tire. Upon inspection, it became apparent that at least six vehicles had suffered damage, with all affected cars having their front right tires slashed. Employees described the event as incredibly shocking and expressed their confusion about who could carry out such an act.

“I was shocked mostly and that’s the feeling today too, we’re just really surprised,” said Basil Starshine, the receptionist at the clinic. “We don’t know who would do that. It feels weirdly, so we’re really confused and disheartened.”

No Previous Incidents

According to clinic staff, this kind of vandalism is unprecedented at the facility located in the 3200 block of Blackwood Drive. The clinic prides itself on helping animals and serving the community, making this incident all the more unsettling for everyone involved.

Starshine mentioned that the clinic lacks external security cameras, which has turned finding answers into a challenge. Staff members are now reaching out to nearby businesses, including a car wash and a hotel, hoping that their security footage could shed light on the perpetrator(s).

Seeking Community Help

Recognizing the need for assistance, clinic staff took to social media, particularly Facebook, in search of any witnesses who may have been in the area around 4 PM that day. Despite their efforts, there were no leads reported as of the latest updates.

Client Reactions

Longtime client John Hood, who brought his dog Oliver to the clinic the following day, voiced his disbelief over the situation. “Very weird, it’s incredibly surprising. We’ve had nothing but incredible experiences. The staff is always super helpful and friendly so it’s kind of hard to understand,” Hood said.

Police Involvement

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) was notified of the incident on the evening of September 5. The police have confirmed that a report was filed, but due to the lack of camera footage from the area, leads on the case are scarce. MNPD also could not provide information on whether this type of vandalism has been a recurring issue in the neighborhood.

Plans for Future Security

In response to this incident, staff at McCormick Animal Clinic are exploring options for outdoor security cameras, aiming to prevent similar occurrences in the future. “We’re just trying to help pups and kittens in the area and it’s just very sad to see that it happened at all,” additional comments from Starshine reflected the sentiment of the clinic staff.

As the staff of McCormick Animal Clinic work to return things to normal, they hope that this incident remains an isolated case and not a sign of ongoing trouble in their neighborhood.

The community continues to reflect on the incident and expressions of support for the clinic have been shared online, indicating that the local residents value the services provided to their pets.
