The world’s leading authority on wine, Wine Spectator, recently announced the winners of its much coveted Restaurant Awards 2024. These prestigious awards recognize the finest restaurants for their excellent wine offerings. This year, the awards program lauded 3,777 restaurants globally, spanning the length and breadth of the United States and 75 other countries around the world.
Marvin R. Shanken, Editor and Publisher, Wine Spectator, expressed his delight at the thriving restaurant industry with openings surpassing pre-pandemic levels. While congratulating the winners, he focused on the exceptional wine programs these restaurants are investing in, thus making them ideal for the Restaurant Awards. Local restaurants in the Nashville, Franklin, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Memphis, and Walland area were on the list. Below are some of the acclaimed middle Tennessee restaurants that made the cut:
Since its inception in 1981, these Restaurant Awards have come to epitomize the unique and exclusive global platform that focuses on restaurant wine service quality. The awards are presented at three levels – the Award of Excellence, the Best of Award of Excellence, and the Grand Award. This year 2,150, 1,531, and 96 winners emerged triumphant in each category, respectively.
This year, four restaurants graced the grand stage for the first time – Grasing’s in Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA, Lazy Bear in San Francisco, CA, Le Bistro de l’Hôtel in Beaune, France, and The Yeatman in Porto, Portugal.
Wine Spectator’s Restaurant Awards issue showcases individual profiles of each winner and the extraordinary teams behind the wine collections. Apart from this, it also discusses ways in which restaurants are re-emerging stronger by rebuilding their wine programs and forming prosperous partnerships with wineries and winemakers.
The Restaurant Awards issue, with renowned chef and restaurateur Daniel Boulud gracing the cover, will be available to readers from July 9th.
