Exciting Developments in Nashville: Mike’s Ice Cream Expands!

Nashville is buzzing with some sweet news! The beloved downtown sweets shop, Mike’s Ice Cream, has recently taken a big step forward by purchasing a new building in East Nashville for a whopping $1.1 million. This new acquisition has got everyone talking, and it’s clear that the ice cream king, Mike Duguay, has exciting plans brewing for the future!

A New Home for Sweet Treats

The building, located at 4001 Gallatin Pike, once housed Brown’s Automotive before being sold to Duguay, according to documents from the Davidson County Register of Deeds. The previous owner, Ronald Brown, bought the property for $365,000 back in 2018. In a surprising twist, Brown had initially listed the property for $2.1 million earlier this year, proving that real estate in Nashville is anything but predictable!

The Scoop on Mike Duguay

Mike Duguay isn’t a newcomer to the Nashville ice cream scene. He brought his delightful frozen treats to life in 2003 and has been serving smiles ever since. In 2016, he invested $2.85 million into his current downtown spot at 129 Second Ave. N., where Mike’s Ice Cream has become a cherished destination for locals and tourists alike.

Before enjoying his current success, Duguay started his ice cream operation in East Nashville’s Riverside Village, sharing a space with Sip Cafe. Back in 2014, he bought a property at 3939 Gallatin Pike for $295,000, continuing to produce his famous ice cream there, while also sharing the love with Sip Cafe. Now, the new property he recently acquired is conveniently located right across Curdwood Boulevard.

What’s Next for Mike’s Ice Cream?

As for what’s going to happen in the new East Nashville location? That’s still under wraps! What we do know is that the company is hoping to unveil the new concept by mid-2025. M.K. Sullivant, the operations manager at Mike’s Ice Cream, mentioned that while they aren’t quite ready to spill all the details just yet, they’re dedicated to creating something special for their fans.

The Heart of the Team

The success of Mike’s Ice Cream wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of their fantastic team. Currently, the business provides jobs for about 40 part- and full-time employees, a testament to their growth over the years. Each scoop of ice cream is not only made with love but also made possible by the dedication and spirit of the staff.

A Sweet Flavor of Nashville

The city of Nashville has a special love for ice cream, and it’s places like Mike’s that contribute to the city’s vibrant culinary landscape. Duguay’s mission to create a friendly ice cream experience paired with high-quality products has undoubtedly captured the hearts (and taste buds) of many.

As we wait for the exciting new concept to open in East Nashville, it’s proof that good things come to those who scoop! Stay tuned for more updates as Mike Duguay and his team work towards their next big adventure in the ice cream world.
