Nashville Family Marks Eight-Year Anniversary of Grandmother’s Disappearance, Seeking Closure and Answers

Nashville Remembers Missing Grandmother Eight Years Later

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — This week marks a heartbreaking milestone for a family still grieving the disappearance of their beloved grandmother, Wanda Walker. It has been eight long years since Wanda was last seen, and her loved ones continue to hold onto hope that they will one day find closure.

Wanda, a cherished grandmother and a staple in her grandchildren’s lives, vanished in October 2016. Quontesa Chambers, Wanda’s granddaughter, shared with us just how significant her grandmother was in their lives. “My grandmother never missed a beat when it came to any of her grandchildren. Whether it was graduations, birthdays, or even Halloween parties, she was always there,” Chambers reminisced.

So, when the family didn’t hear from Wanda for a few days that October, it raised alarms. “My mother called me and said, ‘We haven’t heard from your grandmother, we don’t know where she is’,” said Chambers, recalling that anxious time. The family felt a sense of dread build as they tried to piece together what might have happened.

Things took a tragic turn when, about a week later, Walker’s car was found, and it contained a significant amount of her blood. “Finding my grandmother’s vehicle, with her blood in it, it lets us know something happened—something tragic happened,” Chambers stated with palpable pain in her voice. This discovery has haunted the family as they search for answers.

In honor of her grandmother, Quontesa recently organized a march, gathering friends, family, and community members to raise awareness about her disappearance. “We can’t let another decade, another 20 years, go by without our family having closure,” she stressed earnestly. It’s clear that the quest for answers is a crucial part of the healing process for the family.

The story of Wanda Walker is compounded by another heartbreaking chapter in the family’s history. Chambers’ mother, Laresha, also disappeared in 1999 without a trace. In a troubling coincidence, Laresha’s vehicle was never found either. Walker’s loved ones are left to grapple with two painful losses. “It’s been tough for this to be the second person in our family to go missing,” Chambers reflected.

While police have stated they do not believe there’s a connection between Wanda and Laresha’s cases, the family still holds onto a glimmer of hope that both mysteries can eventually be solved. “There is hope,” Chambers asserted. “I feel like having closure will be the biggest breakthrough ever for our family.” The strength of the family in the face of such tragedy is truly remarkable.

As they remember Wanda and seek answers, the Chambers family is reaching out to the community for help. If you have any information concerning Wanda Walker’s case, you are encouraged to reach out to Nashville Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME. Every little bit of information can help.

In conclusion, the family continues to hold on tightly to their memories of Wanda, hoping that someday, they will be able to turn their sorrow into healing. As this week underlines the passing of time without resolution, the importance of community support and awareness of missing persons cases is clearer than ever. Together, they hope for answers, for healing, and to honor the legacies of the loved ones that were taken too soon.
