Mother Faces First Degree Murder Charges After Drowning Child in Local Creek

Tragic Incident in Hendersonville

A Hendersonville mother is behind bars after reportedly drowning her seven-year-old daughter in a creek near a local greenway, a shocking incident that rocked the local community. Brandi Nicole Elliot, was charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held in the Sumner County Jail, official sources confirmed.

A Struggle for Solitude

According to the police reports, Elliot allegedly told authorities she had had a rough day and desired some alone time. Her daughter came outside and “refused to leave her alone“. The child was unwilling to stay in the house by herself, which led the mother to take the child across the street to the greenway.

Tragic Outcome

In an alarmingly chilling statement, Elliot reportedly shared that since the child wouldn’t give her what she wanted – time alone – she decided to give the child what she wanted – time with her. In a horrifying turn, Elliot is believed to have held her daughter under the water until she felt her stop struggling. Apparently telling the child to stay quiet while she held her under the water, Elliott pulled her daughter out when she felt her ‘bubbling’.

A Stark Realization Too Late

It was after pulling her out of the water, Elliot realized what she had unthinkably done. She hastily attempted to revive her daughter, after which she was rushed to Hendersonville Hospital via ambulance. Notwithstanding the medical attention given, the child was pronounced dead on arrival. Elliot was subsequently taken into police custody.

Community Impact

This unsettling incident has sent ripples through the community, shocking local residents and undeniably emphasizing the need for stronger mental health support and accessible help for parents. Meanwhile, Elliot is scheduled for a court hearing, where the justice system will attempt to make sense of this horrifying act and take suitable action. The suspect, if convicted, could face a sentence of life imprisonment.
