Nashville Expects Beautiful Mother’s Day Weekend Weather and Rare Northern Lights Display

First Alert Forecast: Beautiful Mother’s Day Weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The upcoming Mother’s Day weekend is set to be a delightfully beautiful one, with sunny skies, temperate climates, and no rain in sight. Residents and tourists alike across the Mid State can look forward to a lovely, dry weekend.

The Miracle of the Northern Lights

Adding to the weekend spectacle was an amazing display of color in the sky witnessed on Friday night. The Northern Lights, a sight usually reserved for the far north, made a rare appearance as far south as Alabama and Mississippi. This richly colorful phenomenon was caused by a Geomagnetic storm.

It’s worth noting that such a phenomenon does not occur frequently. The last time most of the U.S. witnessed this stunning display of color was in 2005. Those who got the chance to witness the lights throughout the Mid State likely had a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Weekend Forecast

The daytime today is expected to be warm and pleasant with highs anticipated in the upper 70s under a mostly sunny sky. Such quality weather would make the perfect backdrop for the attendees of Steeplechase in Nashville or those visiting the Strawberry Festival in Portland, TN. Overnight, the weather would cool down again, with lows falling to the upper 40s to low 50s.

A beautiful Mother’s Day is in the forecast for Sunday, with highs predicted to be back in the low 80s accompanied with lots of sunshine.

The Week Ahead

The next chance of rain is expected late Monday night, following another lovely day with temperatures on the cooler side, around the low 70s. Rain showers are likely to move in late and last into Tuesday, with potential off and on showers and storms.

s of now, the forecast doesn’t indicate any potential severe storms. The showers are expected to clear up by Wednesday morning with the highs for both days reaching the mid 70s. Thursday is expected to be dry and relatively warmer with a high of 80º, with the potential development of more showers and storms again on Friday.

With such a beautiful weekend in store and an equally pleasant week ahead, residents are encouraged to enjoy the outdoors while following necessary safety precautions.
