Nashville Gears Up for the 24th Annual AmericanaFest

Well folks, it’s that time of year again! AmericanaFest is rolling back into Nashville from September 17 to 21, and we can hardly contain our excitement over this year’s lineup! This festival, organized by the Americana Music Association (AMA), is celebrating its 24th annual event, promising tons of music, fun, and amazing performances from over 200 artists and bands across various venues in the city. So mark your calendars and get ready for an unforgettable experience!

What to Expect at AmericanaFest

A five-day feast for the senses, AmericanaFest aims to bring together performers, devoted fans, and industry professionals to celebrate all things Americana—from soulful blues to heartfelt folk music and everything in between. It’s a vibrant celebration of the music that speaks to the heart, and this year, it’s packed with talent.

Each night features showcases, panels, seminars, and the highly anticipated Americana Honors and Awards. Some standout performers include the likes of Greensky Bluegrass, Neko Case, Waxahatchee, John Oates, and JP Harris among many others. Tickets for the festival are available online, though be advised that some events may require separate tickets and will be sold at the door, depending on availability.

Must-See Acts You Can’t Miss

With so many performances lined up, it can get a little overwhelming trying to narrow down what to see. Not to worry, we’ve rounded up a list of 13 acts and events that you definitely won’t want to miss!

This year, Change The Conversation is teaming up with the talented folk musician Stella Prince for a showcase titled “Stella Prince and Friends: The Power of Women in Music.” The showcase, highlighting women in the music industry, features an engaging discussion and stellar performances from fellow artists like Twinnie and Bonner Black. It takes place on Tuesday, September 17, at City Winery starting at 5 p.m.

Don’t forget to catch Iron & Wine—a.k.a Samuel Ervin Beam—performing his beloved tracks like “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” on Tuesday, September 17, at Cannery Hall at 8 p.m. Tickets are available through their site.

Another highlight this year is Shemekia Copeland, whose electric blues vocals have made waves in the music scene. She’ll hit the stage at 3rd & Lindsley and also grace the AmericanaFest Daystage on Wednesday. Be sure to check her out performing “Hit ‘Em Back” on Tuesday, September 17, at 9:30 p.m.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and My Morning Jacket are also teaming up as co-headliners for two incredible nights at Ascend Amphitheater on September 18 and 19. This duo is not just about music; they are also supporting the Americana Music Foundation, making it a worthy cause.

There’s room for nostalgia when John Oates, half of the legendary duo Hall & Oates, takes the stage at Station Inn on Saturday, September 21. You can expect to hear classic hits like “Maneater” along with his newer material.

Events for Everyone

If you’re looking for free entertainment, be sure to swing by Musicians Corner at Centennial Park on Friday, September 20 from 5 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. The lineup will include talented acts like Kaitlin Butts and The Dead Tongues with plenty of food trucks and local vendors to keep you fueled for the fun.
