Nashville Unites for Artistic Evening to Support Youth Mental Health and Prevention Initiatives

Nashville’s Artistic Evening Raises Awareness and Funds for STARS

On a cozy evening at the end of October, Nashville’s vibrant community came together for a spectacular event at Marathon Music Works that many would describe as an artistic wonderland. The sold-out soirée was a delightful mixture of creativity, purpose, and delectable bites that enchanted everyone who walked through the doors.

A Night to Remember

The atmosphere was electric as attendees entered, greeted by a stunning silent auction showcasing a variety of items, from exquisite jewelry to delightful gift baskets donated by local businesses. It wasn’t just about the bidding; it was a chance to indulge in local talent and support the community.

As guests mingled and marveled at the ambiance, they could savor delicious cocktails and hors d’oeuvres crafted by some of Nashville’s best eateries. For those who enjoyed unique flavors, the prickly pear margarita from The GreenHouse was a standout, while the grape leaves from Epice added a Mediterranean flair to the menu. No one left hungry, that’s for sure!

Live Art in Action

The highlight of the evening wasn’t just the food and drink, though; it was the live artwork that took center stage. Five incredibly talented local artists—Meg Jordan, Beth Reitmeyer, Andee Rudloff, Andy Vastagh, and Woke3—were on site, each bringing their unique touch to the night. Guests had the exciting opportunity to participate, contributing their creativity to one artist’s painting, snapping memorable photos at another’s installation, and penning their thoughts for a third piece. It was an interactive approach that made the night feel like a true community celebration.

A Meaningful Dinner

As the reception came to a close, everyone filed into the dining area for a seated meal to continue the evening’s festivities. While enjoying a delicious chicken dinner, attendees were treated to a moving spoken word performance that tackled poignant topics such as grief and mental health. These themes resonated deeply with the audience, setting the stage for the evening’s core mission—supporting youth through impactful outreach.

Following the performance, Erin Tomlinson and Rita McDonald took the stage to share insights into the work of STARS, an organization dedicated to helping young people achieve their full potential through hope, health, and connection. Their commitment to tackling issues related to alcohol, drugs, and mental health was evident and deeply relatable, drawing in the audience with their heartfelt information.

Raising Funds for a Cause

The evening included an exciting live auction led by Ashlee Meier, featuring an array of champagne, enticing international trips, and elegant jewelry—all aimed at raising crucial funds to further STARS’ mission. The ambiance was filled with energy as attendees raised their paddles, knowing their contributions would directly impact local youth programs.

It became increasingly clear that the evening was more than just a celebration; it was a call to action. The emotional highlight was when Angie Gentry presented The Troy Gentry Compassion Award, honoring Delaney Shelton and Saylor Smith, a mother-daughter duo recognized for their efforts after the heartbreaking loss of Delaney’s son and Saylor’s brother, Boston, to a fentanyl overdose. The room was hushed as Delaney shared her story, breaking down barriers and encouraging others to speak out in hope that sharing Boston’s story could save lives.

Making an Impact

The work of STARS has never been more vital. Their ROPS program has distributed a staggering 11,000 doses of Narcan since July, underlining the urgent need for prevention efforts in the community. It’s initiatives like these that emphasize STARS’ commitment to mental health and substance use prevention.

As the night drew to a close, guests left feeling inspired, connected, and energized by the power of community action. Nashville truly came together to celebrate art, food, and, most importantly, a cause that unites us all in the quest for a healthier future.
