Let’s start with a man named Antwan Cowan, a 46-year-old individual who has been charged with aggravated rape related to a 13-year-old runaway girl. Authorities have accused Cowan of raping the girl three separate times in the past two weeks. How did it all come to light? Well, Metro Police were conducting routine checks on empty apartments when they stumbled upon Cowan and the girl in a shocking situation, caught in bed together.
The harrowing incident took place at the James Cayce Homes, located on S. 8th Street. What’s particularly alarming is that Cowan isn’t exactly a stranger to the law. He is already a convicted sex offender, having faced two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure back in 2010. Now, he is facing three counts of aggravated statutory rape, along with charges of criminal trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The young girl had previously been reported as a runaway multiple times, and officers had returned her home on several occasions. The Department of Children’s Services is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding her being on the streets. Cowan is set to appear in court this Friday, and many are eagerly awaiting the developments in this disturbing case.
Next on the list is a familiar face in the community—32-year-old Tyler Forte, a former high school coach at Donelson Christian Academy. Forte was recently arrested for aggravated statutory rape concerning a 17-year-old student who was under his guidance four years ago. This unsettling situation took a long time to come to light, as the investigation only began in late September when the former student, who is now an adult, decided to report the incidents to the authorities.
When the police issued an arrest warrant, Forte did the right thing by surrendering. After being booked at the Downtown Detention Center, he managed to secure his release on a $10,000 bond. During a “controlled phone call” with the victim at the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Forte admitted to the encounters, which makes this case even more disturbing. He is scheduled to appear in court on January 10, 2025.
Adding to the troubling news, 23-year-old Dejuan Moore was arrested for multiple charges, including aggravated rape, following a chilling incident involving two 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old at a local gas station on November 24. According to reports, Moore approached the teen girls and invited them to a party. When they declined, he decided to follow them instead.
What transpired next was nothing short of horrifying. Allegedly, Moore forced two of the girls out of their vehicle at gunpoint and sexually assaulted them. In a heroic act, one of the young girls managed to dial 911 while staying hidden in the car. Police officers arrived promptly, allowing the victims to escape to safety. Though Moore attempted to flee the scene, he was later apprehended. He now faces two counts of aggravated rape, three counts of aggravated assault, and three counts of kidnapping.
These unnerving cases have put Nashville on high alert. Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
