Nashville, TN- Fans of British lawn bowling, soccer, and pub life will soon have a unique venue to enjoy in the heart of Nashville. The city is slated to be the home of the Fogg Street Lawn Club, a one-of-a-kind British lawn bowling site and pub. Slated to open in the spring of 2024, the venue promises a unique blend of sports and entertainment for locals and tourists alike.
The venture is the brainchild of Thom Dahle, the owner of Bad Axe Throwing, and is being built by the Nashville-based commercial construction company Eshelman Construction. The Fogg Street Lawn Club will be nestled in the budding Pie Town neighborhood at 648 Fogg St.
The project will feature a 6,000-square-foot rooftop lawn with eight rinks for bowling, a 2,500-square-foot area dedicated to soccer and rugby fans, along with a traditional ground-level pub. The ambitious endeavor is set to cost an estimated $2.5 million for the full build-out.
According to Dahle, the move to incorporate soccer into the project is strategic. “Soccer has been gaining popularity throughout the U.S. in the last two to five years,” he said. With the Nashville Soccer Club becoming a prominent city feature, the new venue is expected to cater to this growing fan base effectively.
The development of the lawn club is backed by a strong team. The design of the space will be handled by Daniels & Chandler Architects, while the food and beverage concept will be crafted by Katalyst Restaurant Concepts. The funding for the project is supported by Pinnacle Financial Partners.
Dahle, who splits his time between Minneapolis and Nashville with his wife, launched Bad Axe in 2020. The couple got attracted to the neighborhood due to its promising growth potential. Dahle’s plan is to make the new venue a much-beloved neighborhood pub in this upcoming area.
The Fogg Street Lawn Club will occupy the same property as Bad Axe, but will be an entirely different venue. Eshelman Construction, with a portfolio that includes the Patsy Cline Museum and Mother’s Ruin, will bring their expertise to this distinctive project. The firm’s founder, Andrew Eshelman, said in a release that they are thrilled to collaborate with Dahle again for this unique project and are ready to contribute to Nashville’s flourishing entertainment scene.
