Nashville Sees Double Trouble: Drug & Gun Busts Unfold After Traffic Stops

In what can be described as a busy day for law enforcement, Nashville has witnessed two significant arrests involving convicted felons tangled in drug and gun violations. The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) had their hands full this past Tuesday, unveiling alarming situations after stopping vehicles for traffic violations.

DeAngelo Miller’s Wild Escape

First on the scene was 35-year-old DeAngelo Miller, a man already on the radar due to his criminal past. Miller, with previous convictions for aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary, was under investigation for a shooting that happened back in March 2024. It was a routine traffic stop triggered by police noticing him driving with a suspended license. But instead of complying, Miller made a run for it, ditching his vehicle while police were in pursuit.

As he fled, Miller discarded a suspicious satchel that would come back to haunt him. Officers later recovered this satchel and found a shocking array of illegal substances:

  • 49.4 grams of cocaine
  • 34.2 grams of fentanyl
  • 30.1 grams of meth
  • 16.8 grams of Xanax

That wasn’t all. Hidden between the driver’s seat and the center console in his abandoned vehicle was a Glock semi-automatic pistol. Talk about a risky business! Miller now faces a mountain of charges including:

  • Four counts of felony drug possession
  • Felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle
  • Two counts of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon
  • Misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession
  • Misdemeanor evading arrest
  • Misdemeanor driving on a suspended license

Miller is currently locked up at Metro Jail with a hefty bond set at $137,500.

Double Down with Stephen Boyd and Jaden Wright

As if that wasn’t enough chaos for one day, the MNPD also stopped another vehicle on 39th Avenue North, leading to the arrest of Stephen Boyd (26) and Jaden Wright (18). Initially pulled over for a vehicle violation, the officers’ keen eyes soon spotted marijuana in plain view, raising alarms of what might be found next.

A thorough search of their car unveiled an array of illicit goodies, including:

  • A stolen gun traced back to Sumner County
  • Over three pounds of marijuana
  • Two full 16-ounce bottles of promethazine cough syrup
  • Digital scales, cash, and small plastic baggies

Boyd, who has a checkered history himself with a previous conviction for aggravated assault in 2022, faces multiple serious charges, including:

  • Theft of a firearm
  • Felon in possession of a weapon
  • Felony weapon possession
  • Driving without a driver’s license
  • Two counts of drug possession
  • Drug paraphernalia

Boyd’s current bond stands at $53,000, while Wright is looking at charges of drug possession and drug paraphernalia. He is being held with a bond of $29,000.

This series of arrests shines a glaring spotlight on the ongoing battle against drugs and gun violence in our streets. Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to keep Nashville safe. It’s a tough job for our local police, but they’re on the case, working hard to keep the community secure.
