Nashville Family Arrested After Baby’s Near-Fatal Fentanyl Exposure Incident

Nashville Family Faces Arrest After Baby’s Near-Fatal Fentanyl Exposure

In the heart of Nashville, a community recently learned a shocking story involving a young family, as reports emerged detailing a harrowing incident involving a baby, drug exposure, and subsequent arrests. This unfortunate event serves as a serious reminder of the ongoing challenges many face regarding drug abuse and the potential repercussions it can have on the most vulnerable members of society.

The Disturbing Discovery

On September 1, a 3-month-old baby was rushed to the hospital after being found “unconscious, not breathing, and blue.” This alarming situation unfolded after the baby was brought to an emergency room where medical professionals fought valiantly to revive the little one. After various revival interventions, the baby was stabilized and moved to Centennial Pediatrics for further treatment. Following this incident, a deeper investigation into the circumstances began.

Family Matters: The Involved Parties

The child’s parents, Alainah Pingitore and Christopher Mummert, along with the child’s grandfather and temporary custodian, Kyle Pingitore, are now facing serious legal charges after a police investigation revealed troubling details. It came to light that the baby had tested positive for fentanyl, a potent opioid substance that has caused significant concern in recent years due to its association with numerous overdose cases.

According to police reports, the day of the incident began with a family BBQ at the home of Alainah and Christopher, where Kyle permitted them to have supervised visitation with the baby. Despite knowing their history with drugs and being aware of a control agreement with the Department of Children’s Services (DCS), Kyle made the decision to let the baby stay overnight, reasoning it would be a good family experience.

A Parent’s Concern

The following morning, alarm bells began to ring for Alainah when she noticed her baby’s health deteriorating. Describing it to DCS, she mentioned the baby was “having difficulty breathing and not acting normally.” Unfortunately, during their rushed car ride to the hospital, the baby turned blue and lost consciousness, prompting an urgent call for help.

Critical Findings

In subsequent discussions, Alainah speculated that the baby might have encountered fentanyl residue on her clothing, which had contributed to the hazardous situation. It’s important to note that Alainah has a history of drug abuse and has recently been attending an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) aimed at her rehabilitation.

Additionally, medical records indicated that when Alainah gave birth, the baby had also tested positive for fentanyl. This past incident brought the family under scrutiny and led to Kyle being granted temporary custody of the child.

Serious Consequences

With all these alarming details surfacing, law enforcement deemed it necessary to lay charges against all three parties involved. They are now facing charges of aggravated child endangerment, highlighting the severe neglect they exhibited in caring for the infant and the grave danger they placed the child in.

A Community’s Reflection

This painful incident is a stark reminder for families and communities alike about the real dangers of substance abuse and its potential to affect the lives of innocent children. With ongoing conversations about drug abuse and its impact on society, it’s a call to action for everyone to be vigilant and proactive when it comes to ensuring the safety and well-being of children.

As the Nashville community processes this heart-wrenching event, it stands as a poignant reminder of the responsibilities that come with parenting and the duty to protect those who cannot protect themselves. The family’s story might seem isolated, but it sheds light on a much larger issue that resonates throughout many neighborhoods.
