Nashville Resident Nabbed by Police for Shocking Crime

Saturday, April 20th— The quiet community of Nashville, Tennessee was shaken when the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) apprehended a 25-year-old man on charges of homicide on Wednesday. The accused, Keith Swanson, is suspected of killing his girlfriend’s 22-month-old niece, for whom she was the legal guardian.

An Alarming Discovery

Swanson called 911 on the morning of Monday, April 15, from his home on Riverside Drive, reporting that the toddler girl was unresponsive. The child was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where, despite their best efforts, doctors pronounced her dead shortly after arrival.

The Youth Services detectives from MNPD noted numerous bruises on the child’s face, head, and chest during their observations. The autopsy results revealed disturbing evidence of physical abuse with internal scalp lacerations, a hemorrhaged and swollen brain being the key findings. The cause of death was subsequently determined to be blunt force trauma.

A Family Shattered

At the time of the tragic incident, the child’s aunt, who was also her legal guardian, had left for a college class at 7:30 in the morning. As per her accounts, the toddler was awake and talking before she left the residence. It was during her absence that Swanson allegedly committed this appalling act of violence.

Legal Proceedings In Motion

A judicial commissioner has set Swanson’s bond at $250,000.
