The unfortunate event took place on January 8, 2024, when David White, a 37-year-old truck driver, was found shot to death at a travel stop on Lucas Lane. He was last seen purchasing food at the Love’s Travel Stop around 7:20 PM on the evening before his body was discovered. Concerned coworkers had requested a welfare check when they could not reach him, leading to the grim discovery by an employee at the travel center.
The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) acted quickly on tips from the public which aided them in narrowing down the evidence related to the suspects’ vehicle. The MNPD identified a Dodge Ram 1500 Classic Quad Cab truck suspected to be involved in the shooting. This pickup truck was described as having tinted windows, sleek black rims, chrome door handles, and a shiny chrome RAM emblem on the tailgate, with a model year suspected to be between 2015 and 2022.
In a turn of events, Charvelle Clark and Nikki Landry were apprehended during a routine traffic stop by the Florida Highway Patrol. Initially, they were held as fugitives from Nashville. With authorities in Nashville seeking justice for David White, both suspects were later returned to Nashville, with Landry arriving on December 27, while Clark followed on January 10, 2025, effectively bringing them back to face severe charges.
Upon returning to Nashville, both individuals were charged with second-degree murder. A criminal court judge has set their bonds at $150,000, allowing the possibility for bail, but clearly indicating the seriousness of the charges they face.
