Nashville Gears Up for Another Memorable Induction at the Music City Walk of Fame
Nashville, known as the beating heart of country music, is set to celebrate some extraordinary talents this fall. The Music City Walk of Fame is all set to induct an impressive lineup of legends that includes the beloved “tropical troubadour” Jimmy Buffett, the renowned gospel quartet The Fairfield Four, visionary hospitality leader Colin Reed, and the charismatic Grand Ole Opry announcer Bill Cody. This special ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Music City Walk of Fame Park, and the public is warmly invited to join in the festivities.
A Tribute to Talented Icons

The induction of Reed and Cody pays homage to the Grand Ole Opry, which proudly celebrates its 100th anniversary next year. Ken Levitan, the Chairman of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp (NCVC) Board of Directors and Founder of Vector Management, expressed his excitement about this remarkable group of inductees. “From Jimmy Buffett’s island-infused melodies to the soulful acapella harmonies of The Fairfield Four, this is an exceptional group,” Levitan shared. “We are especially proud to induct two Grand Ole Opry icons.”

Sadly, the ceremony will also serve as a posthumous tribute to Jimmy Buffett, who left us on September 1, 2023, after a four-year battle with Merkel cell skin cancer. However, his music and enduring spirit continue to resonate with fans around the world. Buffett had a profound impact on pop culture, with his career spanning over five decades and producing 31 studio albums. Hits like “Come Monday” and the iconic “Margaritaville” have left an indelible mark on not just the music industry, but also the hearts of many. Mac McAnally, a long-time member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, will have the honor of inducting him during this special ceremony.
Celebrating the Musical Legacy of The Fairfield Four
Alongside Buffett, we’ll see The Fairfield Four recognized for their extraordinary contributions to music. This treasured gospel quartet boasts a timeless African American acapella sound that has struck a chord with audiences everywhere. With three GRAMMY Awards and a well-deserved spot in the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, they’ve truly made a name for themselves. The current lineup, including Joseph Thompson, Levert Allison, Larrice Byrd, and Bobbye Sherrell, will be honored with an induction presented by Shannon Sanders, Executive Director, Creative, at BMI Nashville, who is an award-winning songwriter and producer.

Then there’s Bill Cody, a cherished voice in Nashville, who has been keeping the spirit of country music alive as the host of the Grand Ole Opry and the Music City Walk of Fame induction ceremonies. Cody’s extensive knowledge of country music history makes him a fitting inductee as well.
