The first gas leak incident took place at the bustling intersection of Harding Pike and Ridgefield Way. Emergency crews were dispatched to a Walgreens location after an observant Metro Water Service employee noticed a gas line that had been unintentionally pulled. This quick response helped prevent any potential issues as Piedmont Natural Gas arrived on-site to make necessary repairs. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this location, which is a relief for all.
Meanwhile, things got a little trickier on Broadway, where a second gas leak created a bit of a stir. The NFD was called in around 11 a.m. on September 11, 2024, to handle the situation. As precautionary measures, a portion of the affected building was evacuated, and the Nashville Department of Transportation promptly shut down Broadway between 4th and 5th Avenues for at least 10 hours to facilitate safe repairs.
