Nashville to Launch New Nonstop Flight to Reykjavík, Iceland Starting May 2025

Nashville Welcomes New Nonstop Flight to Iceland

Exciting news for the travelers in Nashville! Nashville International Airport (BNA) is all set to launch a brand-new seasonal, nonstop flight connecting Music City to Reykjavík, Iceland, starting from May 16, 2025. This fantastic addition from Icelandair will operate on a B737-800 MAX aircraft, which can accommodate up to 160 passengers—16 in the premium Saga class and 144 in Economy.

Flight Details and Schedule

Calling all adventure seekers! The direct flight will take roughly seven hours and will run four times a week: every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. So whether you’re dreaming of soaking in the hot springs or chasing the northern lights, there’s now a fantastic way to begin your Icelandic adventure right from Nashville.

A Gateway to Iceland and Beyond

Not only does this new service connect Nashville directly to the stunning landscapes and rich culture of Iceland, but it also opens up connections to several major European destinations like Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, London, and Paris through Icelandair’s broader network. It’s like having the keys to a whole new world just a flight away!

Celebrating a Milestone

This announcement also beautifully coincides with the one-year anniversary of BNA’s new International Arrivals Facility (IAF). Doug Kreulen, the president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, expressed excitement about welcoming Icelandair. “This new route enhances our international connectivity and provides a new gateway to Europe, meeting both business and leisure travelers’ needs,” he said.

Why Iceland?

Now, you might be wondering, why Iceland? Well, it’s not just about the unique landscapes filled with wonderful waterfalls, geysers, glaciers, hot springs, and volcanoes. In winter, there’s the joy of hunting for the northern lights, and in summer, the chance to witness the natural wonders under the magical glow of the midnight sun. Reykjavik is a vibrant city teeming with culture, featuring a thriving culinary scene, intriguing museums, and lively shopping streets. Whether you’re taking in the sights or dancing the night away, Iceland is full of unique experiences.

Community Excitement

This service marks a significant milestone not just for BNA, but for the Nashville community as well. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee acknowledged the importance of this new service, stating, “As states compete for investments from global airlines, this announcement showcases Tennessee’s leadership in commerce and connectivity.” Meanwhile, Nashville’s Mayor, Freddie O’Connell, highlighted the cultural opportunities this route will present for residents and visitors alike.

Deana Ivey, the President and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp, also chimed in on the excitement, stating, “Nashville’s momentum as a travel destination has never been stronger, and this new route will make it easier than ever for international travelers to experience all we have to offer.”

Final Thoughts

As Nashville continues to grow as a global city, this new flight will open doors to unforgettable adventures. If you have been dreaming of exploring the wonders of Iceland or the charm of Europe, mark your calendars for May 16, 2025.
