NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The heart and spirit of Nashville will once again be alight with holiday cheer as Nashville Ballet announces the return of the city’s most loved holiday tradition – Paul Vasterling’s Nashville’s Nutcracker. Tickets for the acclaimed festive spectacle are now on sale, promising audiences an unforgettable celebration of music, dance, and unique storytelling amid the yuletide glow.
The production, known for selling out annually, will resume from Friday, Dec. 6 to Thursday, Dec. 26 at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Jackson Hall. Single tickets are available starting at $45, with patrons being encouraged to make an early purchase for the best seats in the house. The immersive rendition of the classic tale will be vibrantly brought to life by participants from the Nashville Ballet company dancers, Nashville Ballet’s Second Company NB2, School of Nashville Ballet youth students, and selected community partners.
The narrative of the show, skillfully choreographed by Artist Director Emeritus Paul Vasterling, ingeniously integrates Nashville’s rich history, notable sites, and events, uniting the essence of the city with the spirit of Christmas. “We are proud to continue one of Nashville’s most cherished productions this holiday season,” affirmed Nashville Ballet’s Artistic Director and CEO Nick Mullikin. “This dynamic performance of dance will feature our company dancers, along with students from School of Nashville Ballet, that will surely dazzle audiences this Christmas.”
The Nashville Nutcracker, a 2020 Emmy Award-winning film, and the recipient of the title ‘Best Dance Production of 2022’ by Broadway World Nashville, takes audiences on a magical journey. They will get to experience the Sugar Plum Fairy’s majestic kingdom, the bravery of Clara, and the thrill of her escapade with the Nutcracker Prince, all set amidst the backdrop of the vivacious Nashville cityscape.
For the first time since 2019, the Nashville Nutcracker is once again welcoming youth and the community at large to partake in the spectacular show. Aspiring performers can attend auditions scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 25, and Sunday, Sept. 8 at the Martin Center for Nashville Ballet.
