That’s right, **2025** is shaping up to be a great year for public transit in Music City!
More Buses, Better Schedules!
Let’s get straight to the good stuff. Starting in the summer of 2025, WeGo Public Transit is proposing **increased service frequency**. What does that mean for you? Well, in simple terms, that means you won’t have to wait as long for buses whether you’re traveling during the midday, evening, or on weekends. That’s right, more buses on the road translates to a much easier commute for everyone!
Public Feedback is Key
WeGo wants to hear from YOU! Throughout March 2025, there will be a series of public meetings where you can share your thoughts on the proposed changes. Your voice matters, and this is your chance to weigh in on how we can improve your daily travel experience. The open comment period continues until April 3, 2025, giving you plenty of time to either drop by the meetings or send your comments in via mail, phone, or email directly to WeGo staff. Just hop on routes 52 Nolensville Pike and 77 Thompson/Wedgewood, and you’re in for a free ride. In addition, **FIFA Club World Cup** matches on June 20, 24, and 26 will also be part of this fantastic offer!
And if you’re coming from further out, you can catch route 84 Murfreesboro for a nominal fee of just $2 each way—and it’s a breeze from the Murfreesboro and Antioch park-and-rides!
New North Nashville Transit Center
Nashville’s public transit is getting a shiny new hub! The freshly opened **North Nashville Transit Center** is a great addition to our community, making local transit even more accessible and user-friendly. This center features several bus bays, a cozy waiting room complete with restrooms, free Wi-Fi, real-time bus information, bike racks, and a welcoming pedestrian plaza adorned with artwork. Seven bus routes connect to this fabulous facility, making it easier than ever to get around!
More Exciting Developments in Transit!
Ridership has skyrocketed by **36%** along routes linked to the new transit center, showing that Nashville residents are eager to make use of these exciting enhancements. Planning is also underway for additional neighborhood transit centers in places like **Donelson** and the **Global Mall redevelopment** site in Antioch. Plus, there’s a proposal in the works for a transit center near Tristar Skyline Medical Center on **Dickerson Pike**. Talk about improving Nashville’s connectivity!
Big Plans Ahead!
Mayor Freddie O’Connell is excited about these changes and has laid out **11 foundational projects** as part of a massive **$3.1 billion transportation improvement program**. Thanks to the recently approved half-cent sales tax from November 2024, these projects will cater to every transit user, ensuring that Nashville continues to grow and develop its transportation landscape.
So, there you have it! With all these new proposed improvements, Nashville is on its way to becoming even more public-transit-friendly. Don’t forget to get involved, share your thoughts, and enjoy your free rides while cheering for your favorite teams!
