NASHVILLE – On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Nashville’s very own rock and roll singer-songwriter, Bones Owens, introduced his newest EP, Eighteen Wheeler, via Thirty Tigers, alongside a distinct focus track titled “Bring Me Back”. The striking EP balances on gripping vocals, weighted piano accompaniment, and raw percussion, gradually and ardently permeating the consciousness of its listeners.
“Bring Me Back” succeeds the EP’s eponymous track, “Eighteen Wheeler”, setting the stage for Owens’ forthcoming, sophomore full-length album, projected for a Summer 2024 release.
Owens commented on his introspective approach to creating the EP, stating, “This EP came out of my need to look backward in order to move forward. It has hints of my early EPs but is also a bridge to the full-length on the way in 2024.”
Owens’ musical versatility coupled with his profound lyricism bring a distinctive quality to his work building a rich soundscape that has lent itself to collaborations with cross-genre artists from Yelawolf, Mikky Ekko, and Jelly Roll among others. Moreover, his previous solo projects and relentless touring have caught the eye of Thirty Tiger Records, resulting in his self-titled debut album release in 2021.
The new EP, “Eighteen Wheeler”, while different from the roaring live performance style seen in his self-titled debut album, still maintains essence of the sincere storytelling, a tinge of authentic Delta blues, and evocative lyricism that Owens is known for. Its delicate and vulnerable trio of tracks is exemplary of Owens’ depth and growth as an artist, striking a heartfelt chord within the listeners.
In more exciting news, Owens also has a six-show tour announced in March 2024, including a much-anticipated stop at the Basement in Nashville on March 6th. As such, Nashville’s music scene is certainly off to a thrilling start in 2024 with Owens leading the way.
Nashville’s faithful and ardent music lovers eagerly anticipate the heartfelt melodies that the promising artist promises to unveil in his forthcoming tour and album. This underscores the city’s ever-evolving music scene while solidifying its reputation as America’s prime music city.
