NASHVILLE – Rising Nashville-based songwriter and performer Onoleigh has released her most personal creation to date, “Walls.” Having been featured by Nashville Scene, Entertainment Focus, and The Bluegrass Situation, the single is now available on digital platforms around the globe.
Emerging from a Missouri background, Onoleigh burst into the Nashville music scene with her original music compositions shortly after her graduation. “Walls,” co-written with fellow artists John Oates and Nathan Chapman, captivates listeners with tales sculptured from her childhood.
The song invites listeners to traverse the walls of her childhood room, touching the poignant themes of loneliness, self-identity, and growth. It delivers a nostalgic and vulnerable narrative, accentuating the innocence and resiliency of one’s younger years.
Onoleigh’s repertoire also includes previously released hits such as “Tightrope,” “Why Can’t We Dance,” “Beautifully Broken” and “Make It Hurt.” The latter was penned by celebrated musicians Maren Morris, Rhett Akins, and Chris DeStefano.
Speaking about her latest release, the singer-songwriter expressed the personal struggles she broached during the creative process. “In times of tough solitude, where one wrestles societal and personal pressures, my childhood bedroom was my sanctuary. This place, where you are your truest self, was where I reflected on who I was and who I was meant to be. This inspired the thought of these walls witnessing my growth, my life, and that is something worthy of a song.”
Onoleigh continues to share her journey to self-discovery in podcasts including Music Saved Me, The Backstage Pass, and Takin’ A Walk. Beginning her professional life as a guidance counselor before transitioning to music has undeniably contributed to her astute compassion and empathy, resonating powerfully with her listeners.
Her engaging presence extends beyond her rising Spotify listenership, boasting over 300,000+ streams, to a viral TikTok video reaching over 500,000+ views.
Having recently shared throwback photos of her childhood memories with her fans on Instagram, Onoleigh’s journey is steeped in nostalgia and her music career propels rapidly. With performances at the CMA Theatre and her song “Sunshine & Lemonade” featuring in the film ‘Gringa’, she has swiftly become a noteworthy name in the Nashville music scene.
