As we step into the month of April 2024, the cultural heart of Music City – Nashville Symphony has planned a highly engaging schedule for its patrons. From classical recitals to contemporary performances, this month is packed with diverse musical offerings for every taste.
Renowned pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet will conclude the centennial celebration of Rhapsody in Blue with a brilliant performance lined up alongside pieces by Florence Price and William Dawson. In parallel, acclaimed cellist Zuill Bailey will be captivating the audience with Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1. This performance will be on a bill also featuring two Beethoven symphonies.
In an epic culmination to the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, the Symphony will present live-to-film performances of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
As part of its community outreach, the Symphony will be hosting FREE concerts from the Tennessee Youth Symphony. It also brings to you a National Pathways Side-by-Side concert. The latter features the Nashville Symphony performance alongside 60 pre-college musicians of color.
The first week of April will witness an unforgettable experience. Zuill Bailey, a close friend to the Nashville Symphony, is set to perform Dmitri Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1. The performance will also be complemented with two of Beethoven’s even-numbered symphonies. These events will take place on Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th at 7:30 PM, with the tickets starting at $29.
This year, the National Pathways Festival will involve 60 talented pre-college musicians of color from Pathways programs. The festival will conclude with a free side-by-side concert with the Nashville Symphony musicians lead by Giancarlo Guerrero on Monday, April 8, at 7:30 PM.
Another significant highlight of the month is the performance by the famous Jean-Yves Thibaudet. He will be reverberating the Symphony with the sounds of Gershwin’s orchestral music. Complemented by the works of Florence Price and William Dawson, this performance is all set to be remembered for times to come. It will be held from Friday, April 12 to Sunday, April 14.
The Symphony brings the final chapter of the Harry Potter franchise to the big screen with a live orchestral performance. This epic finale to the film concert series will be showcased from Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28.
