Nashville Symphony Enlists Sherry Gibbs as New VP of Communications
In a nod to her extensive history in marketing and communication, and her love for the arts, Sherry Gibbs has been named the Vice President of Communications by the Nashville Symphony. With over two decades of experience in her field and service in executive roles across several industries, Gibbs is set to enhance the Symphony’s local and nationwide reputation.
Background and Expertise
Gibbs’ professional journey has seen her in leadership roles at Nashville General Hospital, GEHA, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, Children’s Mercy, Ceasars Entertainment, and Prairie Dog, a healthcare marketing agency. Her scope of responsibility spans creating increased visibility for the Nashville Symphony and supporting its branding, revenue goals, and audience development initiatives. Her charismatic storytelling abilities will be brought to use in delivering the organization’s narrative via digital, published, and personal interaction platforms.

Award-Winning Professional Journey
Gibbs recently served as the Senior Vice President and Managing Director for Prairie Dog. In her tenure there, she led marketing and communication campaigns for national healthcare organizations. In her time at GEHA, she played a pivotal role in securing a multi-year partnership with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kansas City International Association of Business Communicators and the Greater Kansas City Public Relations Society of America honored Gibbs with the Bronze Quill and Silver PRISM awards for outstanding public relations and strategic communications.
Looking Ahead with Excitement
Sherry Gibbs expressed admiration for the Nashville Symphony. She said, “I’m excited to join the team, share my love for the arts, and help bring the Symphony’s programming, community, and educational initiatives, and mission to inspire through classical music to as many people as possible.” Gibbs served on the boards of The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City, Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey, and Girl Scouts of NE Kansas and NW Missouri during her time in Kansas City.
A graduate from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Duke University with a Master of Business Administration in Marketing, Gibbs’ qualifications align seamlessly with her newly appointed role, ushering in a new era for the Nashville Symphony’s communications strategy.
