Nashville’s tourism economy is thriving, with record visitor spending of $77.3 million during CMA Fest 2024 and significant growth in hotel bookings. Notably, July 4th celebrations attracted 355,000 attendees, generating $17.5 million. The concert scene further bolstered local hotels, reaching new occupancy heights, while a new venue, The Pinnacle, is set to open soon, promising continued growth for Nashville’s music and tourism sectors.
Nashville, known for its lively atmosphere and booming live music scene, has recently seen an impressive surge in its tourism economy. This vibrant hub isn’t just about catchy tunes; it generates jobs and tax revenue, making it a hot spot for visitors and music lovers alike!
One of the highlights this year was the CMA Fest 2024, which just wrapped up and broke records with an estimated $77.3 million in direct visitor spending. This marked a delightful 3.5% increase from the previous year. During this glorious festival, nearly 90,000 fans found their way to Nashville each day, showcasing the festival’s significant draw as attendees popped in from all 50 states and 46 countries around the globe.
The average travel party for CMA Fest was about 3.4 people, with each group spending, on average, around $3,608 over five action-packed nights. It’s no surprise that nearly half of festivalgoers traveled by air, while a notable 11.4% of them were visitors from different countries, proving that Nashville is a true international destination.
With such an influx of visitors, it’s clear that Nashville’s hotel scene benefits immensely. Downtown hotel room sales during CMA Fest surged by almost 5% this year, reaching a remarkable hotel occupancy peak of 93.5% on the Friday of the festival.
The top states bringing visitors to CMA Fest included Florida, New York, Texas, Pennsylvania, and California. It seems that the love for country music knows no bounds, as fans from across the U.S. flocked to enjoy the festivities!
But wait, there’s more! The spectacular drone light show for the July 4th concert was a first for Nashville, adding an extra sparkle to the festivities! When the night came alive with music, it was clear that Nashville knows how to put on a show.
Concerts and sports events are also making waves in the hotel booking scene. A recent concert by Morgan Wallen, combined with a Predators’ playoff game, propelled Nashville to an all-time record of over 75,500 hotel room bookings. That’s the highest in the city’s storied history for a single weekend!
Speaking of weekends, the end of June saw another remarkable turn of events, with the weekend of June 28-29 experiencing the second-best hotel-room demand ever recorded. They sold 74,983 rooms — a whopping 13% increase from last year. And the excitement didn’t stop there! Zach Bryan’s concert on June 29 led to downtown hotels hitting a staggering 97.4% occupancy that very day.
There’s also a local entrepreneur, with a unique vision to support Nashville musicians through their company called Only Bands Live Entertainment. This initiative aims to provide high-quality entertainment for private events while ensuring artists receive fair compensation, which enhances the overall music experience. They’ve extended their reach beyond Tennessee, attracting clients from afar!
