Introducing the latest face of Nashville, Keith Maddin, the owner of local enterprise Firefly Forts. Maddin’s tale is an inspiring piece of resilience and rejuvenation, rooted in Nashville and blooming with creativity and innovation in the form of whimsical tree forts.

Beginnings in Nashville

Born and raised in Hillwood, Nashville, Maddin’s career traversed a diverse trajectory. From stock options trading to being an in-house travel agent, her experiences have been varied. But it was a home renovation venture that led her to crafting a business in managing property renovations and maintenance, aptly named BK Management.

Stumbling Upon Firefly Forts

The inception of Maddin’s involvement in Firefly Forts was serendipitous. A client’s enthusiastic interest in a tree fort business she discovered in a magazine article led Maddin to contemplate the feasibility of such an endeavor in Nashville. Recognizing the potential for expansion, Maddin approached the original owners, Mike and Kristin Scaglione, who enthusiastically agreed to her proposal. A serendipitous path indeed, Maddin attributes the seamless flow of events to the alignment of fate. Today, she is the proud owner of Firefly Forts, Nashville.

The Imagination Behind Firefly Forts

The unique charm of Firefly Forts lies in their customizable designs. Each fort blueprint offers basic structure, with the potential for a personalized touch. Features like dining decks, rope swings, climbing walls, and hammocks provide ample scope for creativity. Beyond just children, Maddin believes these forts offer an outdoor haven for adults too; be it hosting an alfresco happy hour or simply escaping indoors chaos.

A Life-Enriching Advice

Reflecting on her journey, Maddin emphasizes the value of saying “yes” and “thank you”. Acknowledging help can be a daunting task, but it’s a lesson she’s learned over her journey and one that has enriched her life significantly.

Deriving Joy from Simple Pleasures

Maddin’s recipe for fulfillment doesn’t include extravagant items. It’s the bond with her sisters, her friend group she lovingly dubs as “Call Girls”, her cheerleader brother-in-law, and her beloved pets that make life worthwhile. Her solace is her church, where a community of friends stepped up to aid Maddin in her journey beating cancer.

Maddin’s Nashville Favorites

When asked about her favorite Nashville places, the list is delightful. She thrives on Answer’s food and prickly pear margaritas, enjoys events at Cheekwood and the Nashville Zoo, and finds satisfaction in the local stores run by familiar faces.

Rebirth in Reinventing Oneself

Her story is one imbued with innovation and resilience, as Maddin embraced the opportunity to reinvent herself at a stage where most would settle in comfort. But Maddin proves its never too late for new beginnings as she thrives on her ventures with Firefly Forts, all the while grateful for her journey.
