Nashville on Edge: Multiple Violent Incidents Shake the Community

Nashville, known for its vibrant music scene and friendly atmosphere, has recently been on high alert following a series of troubling criminal incidents. These events have drawn significant attention and raised concerns about safety in the community.

Attempted Murder Case Shakes North Nashville

One of the most alarming incidents occurred on November 29 at the intersection of 10th Avenue North and Buchanan Street when a 30-year-old woman found herself in grave danger. After enjoying a night out at a bar with her sister, the two women were confronted by a 21-year-old suspect, later identified as Diamond Tankard. A simple inquiry quickly spiraled into a heated argument, which escalated into a physical altercation.

In a bid to protect her sister, the victim stepped out of their vehicle. However, moments later, Tankard sped away, only to return and deliberately strike the woman with her car, inflicting life-threatening injuries. After fleeing the scene, authorities were able to trace Tankard through an ankle monitor she was already wearing due to an earlier domestic assault incident.

Currently, Tankard remains in custody at the Davidson County Jail, with bail set at a staggering amount, exceeding one million dollars. This incident has left the community shaken, with many questioning how such violence could erupt in a normally peaceful neighborhood.

Downtown Nashville Attacker Arrested

On the very same day, downtown Nashville was rocked by another alarming series of attacks. Police arrested 32-year-old Jacob Harrison Thompson for his heinous assaults on two women. Just after 3 p.m., Thompson targeted a 29-year-old woman in a shocking attack as she was getting into her car. As she desperately tried to escape, she crashed her vehicle, prompting Thompson to pursue her—until a nearby witness bravely intervened.

The horror didn’t stop there. Later, at around 4 p.m., Thompson struck again in a restroom located at the bustling Fifth & Broadway complex, this time assaulting a 30-year-old woman. Thankfully, her husband and security personnel quickly came to her aid, forcing Thompson to flee. However, Metro Nashville Police acted swiftly, apprehending him shortly thereafter.

Thompson, who is reportedly homeless and has a troubled criminal past—having previously served sentences for aggravated burglary and especially aggravated robbery—is currently being held on a $650,000 bond. The quick response from the public and law enforcement showcases the community’s strong resolve against such violence.

Alarming Domestic Terrorism Plot Uncovered

Meanwhile, an unrelated but equally concerning case has surfaced involving 24-year-old Skyler Philippi, who was taken into custody by the FBI for allegedly plotting a horrifying act of domestic terrorism. Officials have charged Philippi with attempting to use a drone equipped with explosives to attack a local energy facility, driven by a disturbing extremist ideology.

Leading up to his arrest, Philippi had reportedly been vocal about his intentions to commit a mass shooting and was deep into planning the drone attack. Fortunately, the FBI intervened during a scheduled reconnaissance mission in November, successfully thwarting his plot. If convicted, Philippi faces the possibility of a life sentence, underscoring the serious nature of his alleged offenses.

A Community Rallies Together

As these incidents unfold, Nashville finds itself grappling with the reality of violent crime and the importance of vigilance and community support. Residents are reminded to look out for one another while authorities continue to work tirelessly to ensure safety throughout the city. Together, Nashville can rise above these troubling events and remain a beacon of hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
