Exciting Times for Nashville: New Leader at the Helm of Preservation Society

Nashville, a city rich in history and charm, is gearing up for an exciting new chapter with the recent appointment of David Greider as the first executive director of the Preservation Society of Nashville (PSN). Founded just last year in 2022, this nonprofit organization is all about preserving the unique stories, neighborhoods, and stunning architecture that make this city so special.

A Vision for Preservation

At a lively inaugural fundraiser event dubbed “Paint the Town” held on September 14 at the vibrant Neuhoff District, co-founders Kelleigh Bannen and Colson Horton officially announced Greider’s new role. The event celebrated local art with plein-air painters from The Chestnut Group and a spirited live auction, gathering nearly 200 dedicated preservationists, historians, and community supporters all under one roof. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as attendees came together to champion Nashville’s rich heritage.

Greider expressed his enthusiasm for the position, saying, “There is so much of our city to protect and integrate into our continued growth.” He recognizes the importance of safeguarding the unique qualities that define Nashville as it continues to flourish.

With a remarkable 18-year career in nonprofit leadership, Greider certainly brings a treasure trove of experience to the table. He holds an M.B.A. in Nonprofit Management from Lipscomb University and has worked tirelessly at various organizations, including the Center for Nonprofit Management, Nashville Health Care Council, and Digital Medicine Society. Most recently, he launched his own consulting firm, Orange Oak Nonprofit Management, aimed at helping nonprofits navigate challenges and embrace change.

As a well-known figure in Nashville’s nonprofit community, Greider has cultivated meaningful relationships across different sectors, connecting with Fortune 500 executives and influential leaders to foster collaboration. Bannen and Horton couldn’t be more pleased with their choice, highlighting Greider’s deep appreciation for Nashville and all it stands for.

Why Nashville Needs Preservation

Nashville is a city that’s always evolving, with new developments popping up left and right. The Preservation Society of Nashville is determined to ensure that as Nashville grows, it does not lose sight of its unique architectural landscape and historical narratives.

Greider is ready to dive into the work ahead, collaborating with the Board of Directors and PSN members to highlight the beauty of the city’s past while envisioning a sustainable future. He envisions a community that values its heritage, ensuring that every new building, road, and business pays homage to the rich history Nashville represents.

Looking Ahead

As he steps into this significant role at the Preservation Society of Nashville, Greider aims to lead the organization with compassion and foresight. The leadership team is committed to advocating for Nashville’s historical landmarks and neighborhoods, ensuring they remain intact for generations to come.

With Greider at the helm, the community can look forward to innovative initiatives aimed at education, advocacy, and preservation, all while celebrating Nashville’s vibrant culture. His leadership signifies a promising future, and Nashville’s stories are in good hands.

As the winds of change sweep across Nashville, one thing is certain: the preservation of its unique character and stories is a priority. With dedicated leaders like David Greider, the heart of the city will continue to beat strong, inviting both locals and visitors alike to appreciate, explore, and honor what makes Nashville, well, Nashville.
