March in Nashville ushered in more than just the start of spring – several new restaurants flung open their doors in various parts of the city, bringing a range of flavors and cooking styles to the food lovers of Music City. These included a couple of establishments in a hyper-competitive neighborhood just south of downtown Nashville. For food enthusiasts of all stripes, the new additions to the Nashville food scene seem to promise nothing short of a gastronomic extravaganza.
New contenders in the restaurant scene include an inviting Indian eatery and a lively taco joint along with a string of local favorites who are launching new outlets. A bagel shop that already won Nashville’s heart once is among those expanding. Regrettably, Nashville bade farewell to a popular joint that closed its shutters due to mysterious circumstances. The fire-damaged establishment promises to return soon.
A revamped, 1920s-era house on 12th Avenue South has been transformed into Playdate, a restaurant and bar offering an eclectic menu ranging from delicious poke bowls to savory chicken and waffle sliders. The outdoor seating area boasts front and back patios and a back lawn adorned with a permanent outdoor bar. Playdate now serves lunch and dinner from Wednesday through Sunday.
The long-dormant taco restaurant, Nashville Street Taco, is now back in action. The renovated eatery, in the formerly occupied by Emery Wood Fired, offers a relaxed environment with huge TV screens in the dining area and an appealing selection of starters, taco plates, and specialty burritos.
Jashan, the new Indian restaurant on 21st Avenue, offers a plated buffet for lunch and ala carte options for dinner. The food selection expertly merges multiple culinary styles, giving diners a wide variety of choices, from Garam masala spiced ramen to Nashville hot chicken sliders and traditional Indian entrees.
A new eatery that serves reimagined classic American to a few international dishes, The Finch, made its debut in March. Located in Union Station Hotel’s baggage building, The Finch serves lunch and dinner every day.
Taco Bamba, the Mexican chain popular in the Washington, D.C. area, has landed in Nashville. Its debut in the area comes with a lively menu that promises to hark back to its successful offering back in its original location.
The Nations branch of the popular Red Bicycle Coffee & Crepes was forced to close indefinitely due to significant fire damage. The family-friendly spot promises to return once things get back to normal.
Coral Club, a new nightlife concept, is set to debut soon at Gallatin Pike. This design-forward cocktail club, focusing on refreshing coastal flavors, is aiming for a late spring opening.
Good news for French fries and ice cream lovers! Fryce Cream, the family-friendly, combo-serving restaurant is set to expand to Donelson with a new outlet at Old Lebanon Road.
Crieve Hall Bagel Co, one of Nashville’s best bagel spots, is winging its way to Inglewood. The fast-growing business, which got its start making homemade sourdough bagels, is opening a second outlet at Gallatin Pike.
