Nashville’s Own Paramore, Among Countless Others, Announce Record Store Day Titles
Once again, Record Store Day sweeps around the corner, reminding us of the charmingly intimate mom-and-pop record shops that add a depth of richness to the music-buying experience all year round. This annual celebration of independently-owned record stores all over the world will take place on Saturday, April 20, with special events and exclusive releases.
Nashville Stars Shine for Record Store Day
Nashville’s own pop ‘n’ rock phenomenon, Paramore, have been named this year’s Record Store Day Ambassadors. Paramore, along with numerous other artists, is set to release exclusive limited-run titles on Record Store Day especially for their fans. The band’s album, Re: This Is Why, will see its first physical issue during the event. Fans have a choice of buying it alone, or bundled up with Paramore’s Grammy Award-winning album, This Is Why.
In addition, more than 380 limited-run titles have made the master list for this year’s special releases – an increase from last year’s 300. The list encompasses a healthy variety of styles and genres, from rock anthems to country hits and trippy art music mixes.
Celebrating Nashville’s Music Legacy on Record Store Day
Many artists with a Nashville connection are also set to release exclusive materials for Record Store Day. Among these are Jenny Lewis, who relocated to Nashville several years ago, with a 12-inch picture disc of her single “Puppy and a Truck.” Rock musician Briston Maroney, who recently moved away for Los Angeles, is putting out a rare-edition collection named All My Little Shooting Stars.
Nashville Grammy winner Lainey Wilson is also part of the celebration with her four-song set on a pair of 7-inches called “Ain’t That Some Shit, I Found a Few Hits ’Cause Country’s Cool Again”. Art music bass virtuoso Edgar Meyer has collaborated with Christian McBride for Who’s Gonna Play the Melody?, which will first be available exclusively through Record Store Day.
Classic Albums Revisited and Remastered
Classic albums such as late songsmith and gifted instrumentalist John Hartford’s Morning Bugle is getting an expanded, remixed and remastered edition, while The Byrds’ Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman’s renditions of the Sweetheart of the Rodeo during their 50th-anniversary tour are coming out on a double LP.
