Robert Finley to Debut at the Grand Ole Opry
Celebrated blues and soul artist, Robert Finley, is set to make his Grand Ole Opry debut on December 9, 2023, following the successful release of his latest album, Black Bayou.
Finley recently concluded a successful tour in Europe celebrating the release of his album, which has enjoyed praise from a variety of music critiquing platforms. Black Bayou is best described as a vivid portrayal of North Louisiana’s culture, and life as viewed through Finley’s lenses as an insider who has lived there all his life.
The album brings together a vibrant mix of southern soul, jazz, blues, rock and roll, and more, drawing listeners into the unique culture and landscapes of North Louisiana. Dan Auerbach, notable recording artist and record producer, lauds Finley as an embodiment of Louisiana’s musical legacy.
Finley’s musical journey was not without its challenges. Bearing witness to multiple personal tragedies including divorce, house fires, an automobile accident and more tragically, losing his sight to Glaucoma, Finley chose these adversities as stepping stones to grace the music stage. He believes that “losing his sight gave him the perspective to see his true destiny”.
Aside from his own career, Finley is also dedicated to promoting the rich artistry of North Louisiana. He still plays in small clubs around the region and has ambitious plans for a new local recording studio. He hopes to provide opportunities for regional acts to record their music and be heard.
The Opry debut marks another highlight in Finley’s journey, who has headlined shows and toured with renowned bands such as The Black Keys, Greta Van Fleet, Nathaniel Rateliff and more.
