Nashville Police Arrest Seven, Seize Drugs and Guns from Short-term Rental Property

NASHVILLE, TN – In an assertive response to an alleged violation of occupancy policies, Nashville’s North Precinct officers carried out an apprehension that led to the arrest of seven individuals, and seizure of drugs and firearms from a short-term rental property located on Napoleon Street. With support from their counterparts in the Special Investigations unit, the operation took place on Wednesday and resulted in a significant recovery of at least six types of narcotics, and an assemblage of firearms.

Seven People Arrested at The Scene

The occupants of the residence identified and arrested include Vivian Tran, 21, Acuma Juma, 23, Kordell Marquzz Parson, 18, Amiya Powell, 23, John Topaco, 24, Jeremiah Wheeler-Yarbrough, 18 and a juvenile girl aged 16. Special mention is made of Topaco, a previously convicted felon, who attempted to evade the arresting officers but was eventually apprehended after a brief foot chase.

The fugitive felon who fled dropped a backpack he was carrying, later inspected to contain marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, mushrooms, pills, various drug paraphernalia, a good amount of cash and a Glock 27 pistol. This discovery began the unraveling of a startling cache of illicit items on the premises.

Significant Seizure of Narcotics and Firearms

Authorities conducted an exhaustive search of the property after the initial arrest. In the process, they discovered more narcotics including cocaine, marijuana, and pills. A detailed inventory of the firearms found includes a Draco pistol, Glock 39 pistol, Glock 29 pistol discovered within the residence. Remarkably, the 16-year-old girl who was among those arrested was found in possession of two pistols; a Glock 30 and a stolen Glock 17.

Charges Leveled Against Suspects

All seven individuals arrested have been charged with a range of drug and gun possession offenses. In addition to these charges, Topaco also faces charges of evading arrest, subsequently compounding the severity of his situation.

This crackdown forms one of the highlight results of the routine operations conducted by the Nashville Police department, underlining their commitment towards ensuring against the illicit use of rental properties for illegal activities.
