‘Humble, Handworker’: Family of South Nashville, TN Hit-and-Run Victim Pleads for Help

NASHVILLE, TN – Deadly Hit-and-Run Incident

In a tragic turn of events, a 47-year-old man, Rene Choc-Caal, became the victim of a fatal hit and run incident in South Nashville, TN. The incident occurred on the night of a recent Saturday, where Choc-Caal was hit by an unidentified driver of a white minivan while walking home from a store.

Rene Choc-Caal, who moved to Nashville approximately eight years ago, was described by family members as a humble, hardworking individual. His tragic loss has shaken his family, causing distress and sorrow to permeate through their lives.

The victim’s cousins, Rosalina and Romeo Tot, who mourn the untimely demise of their kin, have spoken out about their loss. “He was a hard worker. He was very humble. He was a good person. We are sad, all the time we are sad for the loss of my cousin,” Rosalina and Romeo Tot expressed.

Family’s Plea for Justice and Support

As they grappled with their loss, the grieving family members pleaded for help in bringing justice to their fallen kin and sought assistance in dealing with his funeral expenses.

“We are asking for justice so they find the person that killed my cousin,” they implored. “We want justice.”

While the white Dodge caravan involved in the hit and run was later discovered abandoned on Interstate 40 between the Donelson Pike and Stewarts Ferry Pike exits, the driver of the vehicle is still at large.

The family hopes to repatriate Choc-Caal’s body back to his native country, Guatemala, where his wife and three younger children still reside. “We want to send the body back to Guatemala and we appreciate any support you can give us. May God pay you back for all that you do for us,” they appealed.
