The city of Nashville is buzzing with anticipation as the 20th anniversary of the Tour de Nash rolls around, set to take place from 7:30 a.m. up to 2 p.m. this weekend. Excitingly, for the first time, children can now hop onto their bicycles and sign up for this year’s Kid’s Route.
The Tour de Nash aims to maximize exploration of Nashville’s beautiful bikeways, greenways, and notable neighborhoods for cycling enthusiasts of all ages. The newly introduced Kid’s Tour, a 1-mile kid-friendly route, ensures even our youngest cyclists get to experience the thrill of the ride in a safe and controlled environment, with absolutely no cars on the route. Scheduled to start between 11 and 11:15 a.m., the Kid’s Tour registration costs $28.52. Simultaneously, a parent’s ticket for the Kid’s Tour is available for free. The map with details about the Kid’s route is accessible here.
Families looking for a more extended experience can consider the 9-mile Family Friendly City Tour, which boasts of protected bike lanes, a scenic run through neighborhood streets, and vibrant greenways. The more advanced cyclers might prefer the Local Tour (25 miles) or even the Grand Tour (45 miles). All routes come equipped with rest stops offering water, snacks, restroom facilities, and basic bike maintenance equipment. The costs for all registrations vary, ranging from $17.85 to $65.87 and can be viewed here. If you do not own a bike, worry not! You can still participate in the 9-mile tour by renting a Lime bike.
A notable addition to the 2024 Tour de Nash is the half-mile Open Streets aspect at the start/finish. Especially exciting for spectators, the public is welcomed to the Nation’s park space at 51st Avenue to cheer on the riders. This initiative is part of the efforts by Walk Bike Nashville to encourage citizens to move around the city by foot, bike, and transit. Space is open for community membership, and it is free of charge. To learn more, consider here.
The registration is open until Friday, May 17; hurry and register today! You can pick up your packet at the Walk Bike Nashville (1 S. 7th St., Nashville) on either May 16 or May 17.
The Tour de Nash is more than just a cycling tour; it’s an opportunity for families to come together, get active and explore the beautiful Nashville city landscapes in a new and exciting way. Make sure you’re a part of this unforgettable experience this weekend!
